| and I was hooked. Me, who had had pretty much every kind of pet there is, but NOT guinea pigs, who would want one of those? just kindergartners, I thought... But then I got Buster, and I was hooked. Here he is: ![]() ![]() why he's super: this guy is fearless, he marches up to cats and waits for them to move out of his path. He cruised all over my living room like he owned the place. AND he was a lap pig! He was supposedly a she, though, and so I set about finding him a female friend. After a week, I found Lucy Little Bit at a rescue. Here's her petfinder picture: ![]() how could I resist? of course she got along famously with buster, before I realized he was a she, and separated them. I thought very very seriously about neutering my sweet Buster, but then found him a very caring home, through guineapighome. next came Marigold, from the humane society. I went there with the intention of adopting a different piggy, but Marigold was The ONe. She's also a lap piggy! jackpot! ![]() She and Lucy are living together happily, but there's room for two more, I HOPE! |

| and then came the rest..... (more pics) Here are the two I HOPE to add soon: ![]() mother and daughter pair at a rescue. I haven't seen them yet, they are about an hour and a half from me. mother is a silver marten, daughter is golden agouti. one of them is recovering from bumblefoot, after being kept outdoors, without any exercise. and there were these gorgeous brothers I had for about 24 hours: ![]() ![]() I got them from a woman who had over 20 gps. she was keeping them in rubbermaid tubs and pet store cages, and they all had lice, and all the females were pregnant. they went to a friend of mine. So, dear husband doesn't know about the secret plan to have a total of FOUR piggies. I'm trying to increase the cage size ahead of time, so that the addition of 2 more pigs will be barely noticeable.... Right now I have a2X4 with a 2 grid hay/veggie loft. I tried making an "L" shape with the old 2X3, but husband did not go for that... "I don't want our house to look like a barn," he said. gotta build UPWARDS, so as to not take up any more floor space. otherwise, gps will have to move upstairs, and I really like having them downstairs, adjacent to the kitchen. So that's my story, so far! and I've only had GPs for 2 1/2 months. |
