I'm finally a mom!

I picked up my 2 piggies today. Duncan and Starbuck a male/female pair (both fixed).

They seemed to enjoy exploring my cage. Duncan thinks he's living in a gingerbread house and is trying to eat everything. They already investigated the ramp and will take lettuce from me. I haven't tried to pick them up yet. They are talkers and have been chatting basically since I got them in the car.

They have a hidey, but they don't seem too concerned with hiding in it. They are too busy trying to decide what's edible

Day 1 and they have already learned what the fridge opening sounds like.

On the plus side, the bin of carefresh for the "litter" box is the favorite spot in the cage. They keep fighting over it (they'd both fit but each wants to hog it).

They are too cute. I think they are telling me it's nap time.

It's the favorite nap spot. They fight over who gets to sleep there. I'm going to have to get another one.

I asked my mom if I could get a guinea pig friend for my guinea pig. She said "We'll see with the new cage." I hope the pet store can actually tell the difference between male and female if I get it from there (if I'm even going to get one.) I showed my mom a lot of stuff that says they need friends. I might ask my mom if there is anywhere around here besides pet stores that have guinea pigs (adopting.) I don't know if she'd actually go to them, though.

I'm sure your new piggies will enjoy your cage, and being your pet.

Search online for some rescues in your area (I'm sure there are some).

My mom wasn't too thrilled with my rescue idea at first (I'm 24 and living across the country so it wouldn't have mattered in the end). By the time I adopted she was very excited about the idea and is all up for never buying from a petstore. I'd mention it and give her some time to think about it.

Duncan likes to chew on the plastic bins. I'm not sure how to handle that. He's got plenty of hay and he shouldn't be bored.

Unless he is eating an entire bin in a day, it's probably fine. It's a wonder my pigs are still kickin' with all the stuff they eat.
