New and have a problem! Hi Everyone, My name is Nicole and I live in Victoria BC Canada. I recently bought two young male pigs and was keeping them in a large store bought cage. I found this site shortly after buying them and since then have really wanted to set up a C&C cage. This week I finally did, it's a 2X4 cube size, and the boys love it. However my SO is NOT impressed. It doesn't fit well anywhere in the house! We have it in our already cramped computer room right now, but he has basically said, either the cage goes, or the pigs go. I am totally stressed out because i spent over $100 building the cage and buying accessories, and don't really know what to do. I wouldn't mind finding them a home with someone who would take the cage and accessories and help me recoup the costs. But something tells me someone like that won't be easy to find. Any other suggestions? Or is anyone here in my area and willing to take them? Thanks Stressed in Victoria Nicole

| Re: New and have a problem! If they were my piggies, I'm sorry but I wouldn't dream of giving them up!! (one of them is called Marble by the way! Is there not another room the cage could go in? I moved all the furniture in our sitting room to accomodate our cage! If you were to re-do' it, in a |_ shape, would it fit neater into a corner? Take a look around the galleries for ideas! Good luck! |

Re: New and have a problem! Putting the cage on a table of some sort usually frees up space as you gain storage space underneath it. My home is horribly small, full and cluttered with animals of evey kind everywhere. If you were to walk through my home you would not think that I could possibly fit a cage the size of a 2x5 grid anywhere. I have one though. I placed it on a table and have a rabbit cage/supply area underneath it. I also added 2 offset lofts on the sides to give them extra room and space from each other without taking up more living area. I would be able to find space in almost every (very cluttered and full) room in my house for more if I needed to just by putting the cage on a table.

Re: New and have a problem! Put on your pouty face and tell him to suck it up! Also, rearranging furniture works well too :P. I actually have a card table over half of the pig cage so it almost seems like it's taking up only half the room it actually is. Talk to your SO and see if there's any solutions you could come up with together, I'm SURE it's doable somehow! Good luck.

Re: New and have a problem! I live in Victoria BC. I have 2 male guinea pigs right now. I know of someone who might be interested in your 2 boys. She recently lost her 6 year old guinea pig to old age, and is only interested in taking in rescues. You can email me if you want : bocho@telus.net or PM me. Lynn

Re: New and have a problem! good news! After looking through all the various cage designs on the site I was able to made the cage to a size that worked for the house and my boyfriend. I also took back some of the accessories I didn't need so the cost wasn't quite as bad. Here are some pics of the cage, you can see little Marble in one of them hehe ![]() ![]() Last edited by CavySpirit : 12-03-06 at 11:48 am.

Re: New and have a problem! I think that was a very selfish and cold comment of your boyfriend, They don't take that much space and if he doesn't even grant you that little ammount of space for your own use then I think he has some controle issues. Anyhow, I'm glad to see you found a set-up, I personally would stick with 2 x 4, gives them more space to run Best of Luck!

Re: New and have a problem! Aw what a cutie! I'm glad you were able to find a way to compromise. By the way, your cage looks like you were struggling with the connectors. They can be a pain in the a** sometimes! You can put the cage together with zip ties/cable ties just as well

Re: New and have a problem! Actually I wasn't struggling too much with the connectors, I have them facing various directions where doors are to make them lie flat. I don't think it was that selfish of a comment, we do have 2 horses, 2 cats a dog and a snake along with the two pigs. So more than enough room is taken up by animals, and he was right the cage really didn't fit anywhere. It looked really sloppy and was in the way of trying to walk in the room. The alteration I did makes it fit much better and they still have more room than any store bought cage you could buy. Nicole
