New Babies!!!!

Joey had four little bundles of joy today at around 1:30!! We were in PA for Thanksgiving and we were coming back home today! well we stayed a little later than originally planned to giver her some time! Her and the babies made in home safe and are now comfy in the C&C cage instead of the petstore cage!! Here's some pics. I think we have two girls and two boys.

Give each one a little hug for me, they are all cutie pies. I think you mentioned before that if there was a female you were going to keep her. Well now that you have two are you going to keep both?

If there are in fact two females we will most likely keep them both. (DH is not happy about that.. so we are working on it..)

The males we will have to place. Anyone looking around Richmond for two males??? they will be ready around Dec 15

well I really believe we have 3 males and one female. The black one, the black and tan one, and the brownish one are all male (I think!!) . The brownish one with the tan markings is female (Im 99.9% sure she has the definate Y) so we are keeping her and Lane (with a little help from me) has named her Butter (butterfinger!)

The boys weighed 3.5 to 4 oz on Monday they ALL weigh 4 oz now. Butter on the other hand has maintained a 3.5oz weight. I am assuming that is fine.

They are all eating hay, veggies and pellets. Two of them are drinking from the water bottle already. They play with the toys and today they had a lovely noisy game of hide and seek. They are SOOOOOOOOO cute! I wish we could keep them all, but we don't want to risk more babies, and we can't afford to neuter them, nor build another cage. So on to new homes they must go.

I am hoping to find them all good homes before they are ready to be split. (that way the boys don't have to go into the petstore cage for an extended amount of time) Definately no shelter drop off here, the guy at the petstore where I buy my Oxbow from offered to buy them I told him no, and my Dad wants them for snake food (of course I told him no..with some other not so nice words in there!) I was shocked that he even asked!

anyway that is the update. I have more pictures but am to lazy to upload them at teh moment!

They are soooo cute!! I want that black and tan one! It's amazing that a guinea pig can carry 4 babies around in her belly! Congrats!

Congrats!
They look great.
We had babies 2 weeks ago.. When we got our Cavy we didn't know she was pregnant. Now that we have the babies we are unsure whether we want to give any of them away.

It will be 3 weeks this coming Saturday.. we will separate the one male.. and then we will decide.

Personally I would love to keep all 4, but would feel sad to have the male all by himself.

Also need to get a bigger cage. We bought Mecha, the mommy, a 42" by 14" cage.. before we knew she was pregnant. At the time we though that was a nice home.. That was before I found this site. In all honesty compared to the "starter" cage we bought her with.. this is a pretty big improvement, but it is pretty tight to keep the 3 females.

francisco- you could always have the little guy neutered when he's old enough and he can move in with the girls.
