Ok Im a new memeber to this site (Im not exactly new to the site as I have visited numerouse times before I joined) but I still have lots of questions. I am building a cage for my Little Pigg a 2X3 and its 2 high also and I am planning on building him a loft type area or a playroom or something don't know yet but what I am getting at is I dont know how to build the door and I have 5 kitties and a rambunkous puppy so it has to be a clossed cage. So how do I make the door? and does anyone have any suggestions on what to do for the second story ex. loft or playroom or what? and What do I use or can I use to build him a ramp and what do I use for the second floor?? and What kind of food or diet should I have Little Pigg on?? I have had him for 4 months but unfortunately I just found this site a couple days ago it would of been really useful when I first got him! but now I want to know if I am caring for him properly or as best as I can.

Re: lots of questions Hey there! Welcome to the forums. Since you are a new cavy owner you should really visit Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig for information on proper guinea pig care. As far as the cage is concerned you will have to talk to experts here at the board about making a lid for the cage. As far as ramps are concerned there is a whole gallery here of ideas for ramps. When I used to have a second level cage I used choroplast for the ramp and carpet squares glued onto it. There are many options on how to do it though. Just remember that building multi level cages does not mean extra room for them. It actually can take up a lot of space because of ramps and such. Good luck!

Re: lots of questions Welcome to the forum! Your best bet for building upper levels is using cable/zip ties to hold grids together, and build a frame for the cage that way. You'll need lots so that it is sturdy, especially with other animals around. Then each level will need to have a coroplast base. To make a door, just leave one of the grids zip tied only on one side, so you can open and close it. Then you can use a big binder clip to hold it closed. You can build a ramp by bending a grid either 90 degrees, or in a U shape, then covering it with coroplast, and then cover that with something to add traction - for instance indoor/outdoor carpeting. Just make sure the ramp is not too steep. The photo galleries are a great place to get ideas and figure stuff out. I guess you'll be interested in closed cages: http://www.guineapigcages.com/photos...ry.php/cat/504 but have a look at the ramps gallery too.

Re: lots of questions For a ramp I used 2 90 degrees bent grids zip-tied together with left over flooring carpet. It works great and much better than my last one . For a door like fairysairi said one or 2 grids only ziptied together on one side and a twist tie or binder clip to hold them together. Good luck!
