the saga of Sam and Dave

I found mysilf at the shelter adopting Sam. I found myself on the internet reseaching to see what new information was out there. Bigger cages! Yes, we built one, 11.5 sq ft. A buddy, a companion!
I went to the feed store to get a pet of the same sex, none were available at both shelters I went to. Voila, Dave! Foolish, foolish me. Sam was mis-labeled at the shelter! A female, not a male and I put a male in with her. When I clued into the fact that something was possibly not right I took them to my vet to sex them, and in fact there was a boy and girl. They lived together for a week! Now they are seperated, but how will I know when and if Sam is preggers? My vet did say that she is a good age 3.5 months for breeding, although that was not my wish or intention. Please give me practical advise rather than berating me, there is nothing you can say that I have not already told myself.

Don't beat yourself up, accidents happen and you couldn't have known when a shelter was the one at fault. Check out Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig for information about pregnancy. You won't know for sure for about two months or so -just long enough to get your boy neutered.
