Well, it's been one wheek and two days since I rescude my two 5 month old girls. Suzie and Oreo (aka MooToo). They are such a joy to have! They are beginning to like us, letting us cuddle with them and NOT go potty on us! Floor time is becoming more fun, with less potty, too. They are just so adorable! They even go potty in two corners of the kitchen, and not too much on their fleece or beds. What good little girls. They are becoming excited when we come home, or go up to their cage. That makes us very happy that they are finally showing some liking to us! Suzie is the more laid back one; she is so gentle and kind. She gave me kisses already! Oreo is definitley our little Tom-Girl, whew, she is a character! She is the dominate one, and very demanding. She screams everytime any of us go into the kitchen - help us all if we rattle a bag!! They still kind of nip at eachother here and there, but not nearly as bad as it was the first two days. Oreo is a little bully. They love green peppers and romaine lettuce the most. They do not seem to be drinking very much water, which has me slightly concerned. However, I do see signs of urination in the corners of the cage. When I do catch them drinking - it's only just a couple of sips. Our old man, Buddy (RIP) used to drink a ton of water every day...is that a boy thing?

Re: My new baby girls The first couple of weeks I had my boys they didn't drink anything from the bottles, I just made sure that their veggies were SOAKED in water. They now drink normally, but turn up their noses if their veggies are not saoking wet!

Re: My new baby girls you post the URL of the pic after you upload it to photobucket, the URL will be listed under the pic with the img tags already around it so all you have to do is copy and paste and voila you have pics

Re: My new baby girls Hi Joni, I was wondering how the girls are doing? I bet they are getting even bigger. Is Suzie still the loud screamer? She always cracked me up when she screamed like I was killing her but didn't try to get away. She is a cutey.

Re: My new baby girls Hi Cacosta! I am sorry - I got busy with the Holidays and taking care of my new babies. They crack us up!!!! We are spoiling them rotten. They are in a 4x2 grid cage on fleece with a kitchen. The cage is placed in a very busy part of our home - right smack in the middle of our living room and dining room. So, they get tons of attention! They each have two hidding huts and two cozy beds. They eat and eat...they get Oxbow Timothy Hay and Oxbow Timothy pellets every day. Along with several treats of fresh veggies (we can not walk into the kitchen without being screamed at!! Especially Daddy...they really yell at him, he's the softest of us all.) They stopped trying to kill eachother, however, they still fight often. That makes us sad. Oreo (aka MooToo) is definately the aggressor...she chases Suzie around the cage, and Suzie cries (of course!!) We give them at least one floor time a day - that is hilarious!! The more obsticles we put out for them to investigate, the better. Some times they run laps (especially Oreo) and we die laughing - wow, are they fast!! They love it! They popcorn and make that "boinking" noise. We cuddle with them at least once a day. They love to cuddle, but not for very long (5-10 minutes). They absolutely hate getting picked up! Although, recently, they have been allowing us to reach into the cage just to pet them. Suzie is still as sweet as sweet can be! Yes, she still cries when you pick her up - sometimes she will actually allow her to pick her up, but she'll still scream like we're killing her...it is soooo funny! She cries, too, when Oreo comes by her...she is such a little baby. She is so very sweet and lovable. But, when she "nibbles", it's not a nibble - it's a chomp!!! She licks us, then CHOMP!! She made the tip of my nose bleed the other day - OUCH! Every once in awhile, Suzie will give Oreo a run for her money...when Oreo is trying to push Suzie around, she'll run away, but then sneak up on Oreo and nip her in the butt!! Again - making us crack up!! Oreo is our hyper baby - whew - she is a blast! She is for sure the "mean" one...always trying to dominate Suzie. Oreo hates to be picked up. But after we catch her, she loves us...constantly licking and nibbling (very gently) my chin. She cuddles a lot longer than Suzie does. Oreo has thinned out just a bit going from Alphalpha pellets to Timothy Hay pellets. Oreo is our track star - she runs and runs laps when we give her floor time. Suzie just runs right behind her as if in a train. We just love our new girls - they are the best entertainment anyone could have!! I think they are finally getting to like us, too. It took a long time for them to get used to us. I will try to figure out how to get pictures on my profile - I have many very cute ones to share. I think all I have to do is resize them.Thank you so much for these wonderful little girlies!! I just wish I could get them to stop bickering...I keep telling myself "maybe they're just playing"!!! One question - on occasion, when they are really "pigging out", sometimes it appears as if they are choking. Oreo does it more than Suzie. It sounds like a cough. It doesn't happen often, like maybe once every few days or so...and it's just one or two coughs (high pitched). Is this normal???

Re: My new baby girls They are adorable!!! Guineas are quite funny, something you do not experiance with them until they are comfortable in their home. I have never heard my three make a choking noise......are they eating very quickly?

Re: My new baby girls Suzie looks like my Chopper. Cute piggies. Just altered my cage temporarily and we were watching the boys when we put them in. Harry started popcorning all over the place and one time he must have caught his foot on the hidey tent because we looke over and he was on his back. They were just so funny. Can't wait to see how they will react with the permanent design.

Re: My new baby girls They sound like they are doing great. They may grow out of the dominance issues or Suzie may even become more dominant. As long as there are no injuries I wouldn't worry about it. If they are pigging out and eating really fast or drinking too fast they do in fact cough. Just like people, if they make hogs of theirselves then sometimes it goes down the wrong tube. I would just watch to make sure they don't develop an infection. I have a pig that coughs all the time and he's never had a problem with his lungs. Good luck with the girls. They look beautiful.

Re: My new baby girls Cacosta, I just uploaded a bunch of pics of the girls on my profile...click on my name and there you go! there are some real cute pics there. When the girls are chowing down like they are starving to death, that's when they "choke"...Suzie only did it one time, right after I refilled their hay bin. Although that bin ALWAYS has hay in it - they go nuts when it gets refilled..and they go crazy. I have noticed when Oreo "chokes", it when she eats a green pepper too fast. It might be that very fine layer of skin that she chokes on. When the girls are just eating at their normal piggy pace, they seem to be fine. I was just wondering if anyone else ever had this happen...it's like a very high pitched cough.

Re: My new baby girls Your girls are lovely! If the coughing/choking happens only while they are eating and they eat fast, it's normal. Something just went the wrong direction, and they are correcting.
