Hello new guinea pig owner w/ 2 questions?

Hello I am new to this site, I bought a guinea pig, Mr Wiggles, about three weeks ago. Just built him a new cage last week, and he is loving it. Anyways, I had two questions, is it normal for them to eat their own feces, and how do I find out what kind of guinea pig he is? Thanks in advance for any information.

Re: Hello new guinea pig owner w/ 2 questions?

It is completely normal for then to eat their own poos. They extract more nutrients from their diet by passing them through the system again! They are soft caecal pellets, and different to normal poop.

If that's Mr Wiggles in your avatar, her looks like an American - though if you post anothe pigture, I'm sure you'll find someone with more knowledge on breeds will let you know.
