New Adopted Boys

Thanks to Aertyn, I adopted 2 boars last night. They aren't as nervous as I expected them to be. They have just had a bath and I thought I would post up a pic. I haven't decided on names yet. They are around 8months+ and definately both male.

Edit: They had a bath not a shower

What gorgeous guineas! It is great that they are not too nervous, hopefully they'll settle in really quickly!

Re: New Adopted Boys

They're both lovely guineas, I have to admit, I rather like the one with the russet stripe

Re: New Adopted Boys

Update - 20 Nov.

The boys have names, finally

In the above picture, Porkchop is on the left and Darcy is on the right.

Porkchop is named after the saying "Quit carrying on like a Porkchop." He's a bit of a sook.

Darcy is named after Mr Darcy in Pride and the Prejudice, since I love the book and I think he looks very regal.

Darcy is seattling in better than Porkchop. I think that Darcy was probably held more in his old home. I currently have Porkchop out for Laptime and he is gawking up at me looking a little scared.

Edit: I have treated them for mites and they both seem to be very healthy

Re: New Adopted Boys

Hey guys. Just an update.

I have gone through introducing the boys and it isn't going well.

The boys have been introduced on Neutral ground, Bathed together, Housed in cages next to each other for about a week or 2, bathed together again, Neutral ground again. Things seemed to be going fine. I extended the cage and put them all in together, and they were fine for a few hours, until they started fighting again. Now it is the two that were bonded that aren't getting along.

Now, my original boy Mocha and Darcy are getting along fine, and Porkchop can't get along with either of them. I had to seperate them, since he was getting some superficial scratches down his back and I didn't want them to get any worse.

The cage is 2x5 with 3 hidey houses and all of it was cleaned thoroughly and rearranged before them being put in there.

Is it common for bonded piggies to 'unbound' with the introduction of another, same sex, pig?

Does anyone else have any tips on Introductions?

Other than that, they all appear to be in good health and are getting a balanced diet, fresh veggies daily, hay, etc, and as much love as humanly possible.
