Thumbs up New Piggy in the Family

Hi, my name is Heather, and at this point I have three Piggy's. Rosie, a 3.5 year old female, Curley, a 5 month old boy, and Hairyetta (I will show you a picture later, then you will understand the name.) I'm not sure how old Hairyetta is, she comes to me through a friend who recieved her from a pet store. All three of my piggy's are in seperate cages. Curley becuase he's well, a boy, and I don't want unwanted pregnancies , and Rosie and Hairyetta are seperated becuase Rosie is very dominate. Also known as being a bully. She has never liked other piggy's sharing her cage, she tries to bite them. So she is queen of her cage! Curley is a lot more of a squeeler then Rosie. Oh, don't misunderstand Rosie talks but she's more quite, and more laid back. Curley just lets it be known that he is here, and he is loud! Hairyetta hasn't really been talking much, she is still kind of skittish. She hadn't been handled as much as they told me she had, however she will be! I am taking it really slow with her, small holding times, reaching my hand in the cage several times a day, taking to her, and I think she will be fine. She's not growling, not chattering her teeth, not biting, just kinda shys away. I am thinking it won't take long to get her out of that! Just love and attention and treats should do the trick!

How big are your cages? I'm sure if they were big enough, even a bossy pig could get along with the others. If you had your boy neutered you could put all three together into one big C&C.

Re: New Piggy in the Family

My cages aren't big enough for two or three, not and them have the room I would like. They get to talk to each other, and Rosie has actually suprised me by talking to Hairyetta. Maybe at a later date I will put them in the same cage, but for right know this works best for everyone. Curley, by boy, seems to be good by himself. I get them all out and play and they get enough attention, besides, my mom slips and gives them extra treats and loves them. Maybe if I can save enough money to get a bigger cage (although I don't really have room) then atleast the girls coud stay together.

A C&C cage would only cost you around $30, it's super cheap!
