Adoption in Process Well everyone I have been working on adopting a few more pigs for almost two weeks now. They are from the SC horder bust and the SC Guinea Pig Rescue has now taken in quite a few of them. I have had such a hard time trying to decide how many we could take in and still be able to provide for them all comfortably, seeing I already have seven. The breeder bred texel, skinnies, and baldwins and we have picked out three texel females. We are looking to transport them down this way in about two weeks (I will keep you posted). Seeing I have used up basically all of the Rocky and Bullwinkle names I have to begin a new theme . Names are still being discussed and I am leaning towards names of flowers. . .???? I do not have one of their pictures, but I should by this weekend. Here are the two I do have pictures of . . .![]() (the little red and white colored one looking at the camara) ![]()

Re: Adoption in Process You lucky woman you! Can't wait to see pictures of them when you bring them home! As far as flower names go I think that's super cute. Here's a good site that has flowers in a whole bunch of different languages: http://www.earthlypursuits.com/FlwrsPer/FlwrName.htm

Re: Adoption in Process I can not wait to see them in person and what they are like personality wise. The lady who runs the rescue says they are very easy going and she can put them in with any pigs and they don't even care. Poor things have been put in with tons of different pigs thoughout their whole lives they don't even think about putting up a fight. I can not wait until they can come and live with me. Three more pigs for me to love and spoil!!!!!

Re: Adoption in Process They are so adorable! They look like they are satin, or is it just the camera? How about starting another cartoon theme, like Disney names or something?

Re: Adoption in Process Oh I just looked at the SC GP Rescues petfinder page and Taffy is just adorable!!! They want her to stay with her Mommy though, I'll have to talk to the husband, I really don't think we can take on two. I doubt he'd let me even get one, but it's worth a shot. Those are some beautiful girls you're getting. Flower names? What about Hyachinth or Rose or Daisy or Lilly or something along those lines. I have to admit the first name comes from my favorite old British comedy show "Keeping Up Apperances"

Re: Adoption in Process WEAVER, You are braver than I am. And hubby's very understanding. Now if I can just get mine to be like yours. I like Lily and Rosie but I also like the Disney themed names. You could have a slew of those. Good luck and congrats on the new additions. The more the merrier, right? Does this mean another cage revision?

Re: Adoption in Process Buggie---I am having a real hard time not taking Big Mama. I have been fighting with wanting her for days!!!! I was actually going to adopt four, but the forth one found a home, so I really thought about taking her. I just did not have the heart to break her up from her baby Taffy Now I wil have ten, a nice number, a even number Jenn I have been working out the new cage for a while now. Hubby and I were up so late the other night trying to figure it all out seeing I want to keep the new females seperate from my others (you know all the dominance problems I have had in the past with Roxie and Natasha). The problem was that I wanted three cages, three kitchens, three ramps, but not three levels. Well it will have three levels, but it won't be bad at all. Hubby said to leave it up to him---I will post pictures when we finish it. It is going to be a MONSTER!!!! We are planning to get a start on it this weekend and have it finished by next week (hopefully). For the two girls names I have been thinking about Rosie (Rose) for the red one, and Violet or Petunia for the multi-colored one. What do you guys think? Any other suggestions? I also like the name Marigold (Mary)----Lily----UMMMM

Re: Adoption in Process I don't know if I could take the baby away from her Mommy either, or the Mommy from her baby. I thought about the baby because I have a 3 week old and she tends to be ignored some by her mother and the other older piggie and I thought it would be nice for her to have a playmate close to her age and size. My husband won't get home untill after midnight so tonight is not the night to have that conversation but tomorrow he's off and should be in a good mood. I go tomorrow for my ultrasound and should be able to find out what sex the new baby is. Cross your fingers for a girl, I have two boys already and am very outnumbered. All our pets are girls for that reason alone, 2 female cats and 3 female GPs. I definitly want to see pictures of the new cage once it's done, I love getting ideas for redoing mine. I really like Petunia, that's a sweet name. My official vote is for that name.

Re: Adoption in Process You don't really want to use Petunia do you? She was Porky Pig's girlfriend. I like Rose, Violet, and Lily. Dahlia is really pretty too, very exotic.

Re: Adoption in Process I love the name Petunia for a pet. Especially a pig! Come on! You can call her 'Tunia for short. I think it's cute.

Re: Adoption in Process Well considering I help named Belle Winkle, I will just put my two cents in for Rosie and Lilly or Violet.

Re: Adoption in Process I like Petunia - it's what I named my bicycle. My vaccuum is Zelda, that's a good name too Congrats on the decision with the sows. I guess you are not getting the skinny boars? Have they found homes?

| Re: Adoption in Process Quote:
I had just decided that for me the texels would be a better choice. With Dudley and Mr Peabody having so many butt issues I just don't think I could deal with any more boar butt right now. I was also a bit nervious with all of their special needs and them becoming too cold. I have central heat and air, but I leave my ceiling fan in my bedroom on all the time (My long-haired pigs get hot even though the house is set on 73*). |

Re: Adoption in Process Buggie---Patricia does have a all silver augouti (not sure on the spelling)sheltie pregnant sow due to have pups very shortly. I believe she was part of this same group of girls. If you contact her maybe she could give you some options...?
