Hello and curious

Hello-I have owned or helped care for just about every domesticated animal in the past. Currently we are 5 people, 2 dogs (had 3 till we lost one to old age Thursday morning), 2 finches w/ 2 babies, 3 rabbits (which we are also new to; we bought the rabbits when we went out to get the guinea pigs but that is another story), 3 nuetered cats, 1 female cat not spayed YET, and 3 recently rescued kittens, OH! a 55 gallon fish tank. Strays just seem to find us-really. I hunting beagle with tennessee tags showed up at our Indiana home too full of parasites to safe. We called the owner who said she got lost on a hunting trip in Kentucy. Anyway back to the piggies.
I decided to go to the web to get info on a pet for my 6 year old she could call hers because the first attempt to get the new pet landed me 3 bunnies. I found 2 tri colored short hair girls on the web site of our local humane society. They were kept in a wire bottomed cage with previous owners which messed up their feet. They are about 2 years old. The humane society lead me to this web site and now I am so exited to create new enclosed invironments for the bunnies and piggies. I hope they will start chattering in their new home currently they are quite and inactive.

Re: Hello and curious

Congrats on adopting! Welcome to the forum. At first the animals may seem overwhelmed by all the space of a C&C and not know what to do. But soon they will start exploring and then their personalities will blossom before your eyes! It really is wonderful. For infomation on proper care of the pigs this thread is a great place to start:http://www.cavycages.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17032 If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Re: Hello and curious

Sounds like you have quite a zoo there - you're in good company here! There are plenty of other members with lots of animals.

Welcome to the forum.

Re: Hello and curious

I have pictures of my three girls and their cage which is currently a 2X3 two story instead of the 2X5 single they were in till we rearranged the room. I am still working on lighting and a sturdy ramp. How and where should I post them?

Re: Hello and curious

Welcome! I too have been reading this forum for awhile but only recently registered and uploaded photos of our girl, Pilot. My son and I are currently working on adopting a furry friend for her.

She only recently got her 43"x58" pen constructed [3x4 grid] and does seem a little more skittish than when she was living in her cage. But I'm sure that will pass as she settles into the new and better space!
