Hello.

Hello everyone. I'm new here and just thought I would introduce myself and my pigs. I currently have two female guineas that will both be turning two next month. They are LuLu and Rikku. I also have one four month old female, named Nox. Before I got LuLu and Rikku I had a male named Orlando, but he died back in 2004. LuLu is an american guinea pig, while Rikku and Nox are both abyssinian.

Re: Hello.

What cute pigs. I love Abby's. Lulu kind of looks like a eskimo with a gray hood.

Re: Hello.

Welcome to the forum! You have some cute piggies. I love the colors of Rikku. So I'm assuming they all live together. I have five girls that live in a very large CC cage and all get along except when one's in heat then we have some squabbling.

Re: Hello.

Thanks. Currently only Rikku and LuLu live together. Nox is new so I'm getting her socialized to the other two. Sofar LuLu isin't liking her very much though. Nox gets along well with Rikku though. Once they all get along well together then they will be in one larger cage.

Re: Hello.

Did you introduce them all on neutral ground? Have you seen this page, it's got all the info you need on intros. http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm
Don't seperate them and put them back together unless there's bloodshed. It's too stressful to do many introductions when you can keep it to one.

Re: Hello.

It was on neutral ground. Away from both cages. Thanks for the link. They haven't been put in the same cage yet. They're just had floor time together.

Re: Hello.

Like 4bwabbys said, it's bad to introduce them and then separate over and over. They need time to decide who's going to be the leader of the group and will have some rumblestrutting, teeth chattering and possibly alittle hair pulling but if there isn't blood, don't separate them. I've been through it on several accounts and everyone survived. When you introduce on neutral territory, make sure to clean the entire cage including all hidey houses, bowls, waterbottles, etc...that way when they go back into the cage as a trio, there will only be new smells.

How did I know when I saw N_G posted to this thread that she found fresh meat?

I am in Hamilton ON, we have members all over the province, just yesterday I tried to hog tie PiggieMom from Michigan to get her to stay and boost our numbers, but she did not seem to like it too much so I let her go!

Make yourself wecome here, we are still overshadowed by our Big American Cousins mostly, but in time, I think we can highjack this forum! Your pigs are adorable!

Re: Hello.

I'll be sure to clean everything when I put them together as a trio in the new cage. Sofar there has been rumblestrutting, teeth chattering and hair pulling. I'm in St. Thomas, Ontario. Just a few weeks ago we had a pignic at one of the parks. I didn't go though as it was about 35 degrees outside.

That's all normal stuff. Nothing to be overly concerned about. I have 5 sows myself that all live in a huge C&C cage.

"Big American Cousins", eh? Are you calling me fat?

I'm going through simiular stuff with my new three girls. They're in a new cage together since yesterday. Two are bonded, Rogue and Morgan, and Caramel has never been around another guinea pig. Morgan is picking on Caramel. She won't let her out of one of the corners. I know it's hard not to seperate (especially since Caramel is quickly becoming my favorite girl ). But it's for the best. They're doing their dominance thing and they have to work it out on their own. So far we've had rumbling, teeth chattering, nipping, hair pulling and chasing. Caramel sqreams right now if Morgan even comes near her. I've checked Caramel over for sores, and she has none. As long as blood isn't drawn I'm going to let them work it out.

Re: Hello.

Welcome to the forum! Your pigs are very cute. I can't believe there was a pignic in ontario and I missed it!

C&K, you may not have been able to turn PiggieMom Canadian, but her pigs always will be. You know, those pigs are going to expect Thanksgiving in October, Boxing Day, Victoria Day...
