Hi there! I'm Sarah and I've had guinea pig companions for 5 years now. I have 10 guinea pigs and I go by the name Maisiepaisie on several other forums as a tribute to my long time friend who was with me until last year. Poor Maisie had been used by a breeder who didn't want her when she became too old but I hope I made up for her bad start in life. She lived with me for 4 and a half years and was approximately 7 years old when she died. Here's my favourite pic of Maisie.


I'm pleased to see there are some veggies and vegans on this forum. I stopped eating meat 22 years ago at the age of 13 and early last year I became vegan after learning about the atrocities of the dairy industry. I spend a lot of my time campaigning for animal rights and have set up a page at myspace to promote the issues that are close to my heart including a link to cavy cages. I don't know how I would have housed my piggies without the cage building info on this site and I am so grateful, thank you. Click here to view my page but I must WARN you there are a couple of VERY GRAPHIC images which some people may find distressing.

Anyway I've waffled on enough for now but I'd just like to say that I'm looking forward to chatting to you all and sharing info about my favourite animals in the world - guinea pigs!

I forgot to mention that I also have 2 rabbits and 2 hamsters. Oh how could I forget my other furry friends

Welcome, Sarah! You will be in great company here. There are lots of us (most of us) who feel as strongly about animal rights as you do.
Maisie was a gorgeous girl. What are your 10 piggies' names?

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. My piggies names are Millie, Flossie, Hazel, Poppy, Mimi, Lola, Timmy (neutered and living with girls), Rusty Pebbles and Patches. I think I noticed a thread for posting pics so I will be posting a few pics there soon

Pebbles is actually a boy. I suppose it is a girly name though. I had loads of beautiful pics of all my animals but they're on my old PC and I haven't figured out how to transfer them yet but here are some more pics I've just uploaded.

When my first post here was edited by the mods because of very graphic pictures on the page I linked to, it made me think about those pictures on my page. I decided that the rabbit picture wasn't serving any purpose and could only upset people so I've now removed it. The only upsetting picture now is the dead pigs heads. That will stay because I feel that meat eaters should see the devastation they cause and it might just get them to stop. Apologies if I've upset anyone with that rabbit picture as I remember how I cried when I first saw it about 2 years ago.
