Hi from Dave, Kari, Gus and Ernie Hello everyone. We just found this site and decided to say hi after checking it out. We are a young Canadian couple who are slaves to two boars. I am Dave and my wife is Kari. Gus and Ernie are our boys. We have lived together with the pigs for about a yr. The boys are Kari's first experience in guinea pig husbandry. I have been slave to a few other piggos over the years. Patricia, Roger and Turbo Pig have all crossed the rainbow bridge. My mum has Piglette who used to live with me. I hope to learn more about pigs here and hopefully meet some interesting slaves and share some good stories and pigtures.

Re: Hi from Dave, Kari, Gus and Ernie Hi Dave, it's nice to meet you. I would also like some pictures of your piggers. There is lots to learn on this forum. You should start by reading the full site of www.cavycages.com and make your piggies a proper cage. Mine cost $35 Canadian, I found the cubes at Wal-Mart and the coroplast at Loomis. A tupperware bin, regardless of its size, is too small for your pigs to run around and play, and provides improper ventilation which could lead to respiratory problems

Re: Hi from Dave, Kari, Gus and Ernie I think you're right! Your boys are adorable as are you and Kari. What kind of cage do you have them in? We tend to be insatiable curious about different piggy living conditions, second only to seeing the piggies themselves, and you've already fulfilled that!

Re: Hi from Dave, Kari, Gus and Ernie They live in a giant rubbermaid/tupperware bin. 38"x21". If I had more romm I'd put them in a kiddie's swimming pool. My mum's pig lives in a round one about 4 feet in diameter and a foot deep. They have a pigloo that they enjoy. Gus likes to use it as a turtle shell. The boys like summertime when they can play in the yard. Thier favorite prt of summer is all the dandelion leaves they get to eat. During the winter they eat a lot of parsley. They love sitting on my lap or on the bed. They enjoy having their house in the computer room, so they see me a lot and get to listen to music with me.

Re: Hi from Dave, Kari, Gus and Ernie Dave - That's still pretty small by the standards we recommend on here. Like nonamian_girl suggested, check out the home page on http://www.cavycages.com for easy instructions to make something a bit larger (30"X36" or 30"X50") for 2 pigs. Are you measuring the inside usable space or the outside of the container? Now the next question, is are you feeding your two adorable piggies? I highly recommend cilantro over parsley for starters. Parsley is a lot higher in calcium, and might eventually lead to stones.
