YAY! I have guinea pigs!!! But a few random questions? I finally have a pet guinea pig! Two in fact. But I just A random probably unimportant question. Well I got mY GP from an owner who loved her pets very much but did not have the time for them anymore so she sold them to me. Their my first pets and they already had names but.... I want to change o e of their names... But is it considered bad or disrespectful to the past owner or somethin g if I do that? I know it's not a big deal but it's kinda bugging me.
Congrats on your new pigs! And nope, it's completely normal to rename pigs when you adopt them, not disrespectful at all.

Thank you! But now I have another question. I just got the piggies but they've been eating parsley off my hand. Then I sorta left my hand in the cage to see what they thought of me. One of the piggies kinda bit my fingers a few times. It didn't break skin (except a wee bit on one) or bleed but it hurt. What does this biting mean?
guinea pigs have a very fine and strong sense of smell - and they use it! your hand still smelled like parsley, i'm sure, so they were just looking for more parsley to nibble on!
if you don't want them to nibble on your hands, the best bet is to wash your hands very thoroughly, to get off any food smells.

That is something that is very different for each pig and their owners, It can take a couple of days to months (sometimes even a year, usually for pigs that haven't had the greatest start to life).
My suggestion would be to be VERY sure your pigs are the same sex before letting them live together. We've had a lot of "Woops! I thought they were both girls/boys" threads lately. Don't blindly trust that this previous owner knew 100%. One of my pigs was with his last owner for over a year and the entire time, his owner thought he was a girl.
My next suggestion would be to make sure your cage is large enough - especially if you have two boys. Without enough room, squabbles happen.
As for your question about re-naming them, I have always re-named the pigs I adopt. New home, new lease on life, new name. I have to find a name that I feel, suits them. I don't usually name based on what the pig looks like but moreso on their personality. Sometimes it takes weeks to come up with the right name but I know it when I find it.

Talk to them constantly and whenever you can "play" in their cage moving things about, scooping up poops, etc that way the will get used to your smell and voice and hopefully they will love you as much as Gizzy loves me or Sniper loves Gizzy!
New names are a great way to start your piggies' new lives. I always renamed my pets (piggies, horses, cats, etc.), and I never reuse a name. My piggies Amy and Quinn were Chloe and Mimi when I got them.
It takes time and patience, but you'll rejoice as you see little signs that mean your piggies are warming up to you and getting more and more comfortable in their new home.
