My piggy won't come out of his hidey house!
Im really scared, my new guinea pig nAmed Oreo never comes out of his house. Ok so not exactly never cuz he will come out to get food but when I try to coax him into coming out with veggies he doesnt come. When I try to take him out of the cage for floor time he runs away. In order to get him out I have to take out his hidey house and then pet him allitle and then I can barely get him out but once I take him out he's all fine but still kinda scared. I made him a hammock and I put in veggies and everything and he seems pretty healthy. I just want the best for him. Would it be wrong to take out his house for allitle bit cuz he can always go under the hammock if he wants a place to sleep. Please help me. I want the best for my piggie. Oh and I can't get another one becuz I'm lucky my mom let me have this one and I had to pay so I need to save up money so I might in a couple of months.

First off Welcome!
Guinea pigs are naturally prey animals so it will take him some to trust you and understand that you mean him no harm. It usally takes 2 weeks to months. (:
If it was me I would leave his hidy house and his hammock in his cage, and let him be able to keep the hidy house as his 'safe place'.
We would love to see some pigtures!

You say Oreo is new. How long have you had him? Most piggies are shy when you first get them, and it takes a while for them to realize that you're friendly. They're prey animals, so at first they see a big creature hovering over them as a predator.
It sounds like you're doing several things right. You're handling him and giving him floor time. I wouldn't take the hidey out completely, but it's okay to take it out for a couple of hours while you're in the room so Oreo can get used to having your around. Keep trying with the veggies because most piggies are ruled by their stomachs and learn that humans are the bringers of good things. Before you serve up the full serving of veggies for the day, try to coax him with a couple of pieces of his favorite goodies.
Good luck with your little friend. It will take some time for him to warm up to you, but it will happen with patience.

Ah, two days ago...that makes a lot of sense. He's definitely still adjusting so I'd let him chillax for a few days before trying to handle him too much. It's good that he's eating and drinking, and within a week he'll start settling in enough for some serious efforts to befriend him.

You are doing everything right! What I did is I would sit in Poppy's run as it is on the floor and read a book and move very slowly if I had to move. When he did come out of his hidey I would pretend i didn't notice. It took him about 2 months to trust me. Keep trying, he WILL come around!!!!
