Re: New to guinea pigs, learning quickly, need help
Hey, sorry I haven't been on much. My life's a little insane(mildly putting it). Isolde is still doing wonderfully and just as loveable and sweet as ever. She still prefers to lick me than take food from me but god forbid I withhold her cucumber! Lmao. She's started whistling at me from her cage if she thinks I'm not cuddling her enough or that I haven't given her an adequate amount of fresh hay. She's an absolute joy...
Tristan has found a new home. A very sweet girl who loves guinea pigs and knows way more than I do,
. They took to eachother wonderfully and I'm incredibly glad that I found him a good home.
Isolde is still not a mommy, if she IS pregnant then she either got pregnant right before I found her or during the stage where I still didn't know Tristan was a boy. With all luck though the next month or so will pass without event or baby piggies. She's just such a sweet and happy girl, the idea of her having babies scares the crap out of me. She is above and beyond the perfect pet and fuzzy companion for me. So glad I found her! Later I'll have another video of her licking my hand right after I gave her hay.
Thank you all for your help. I'm certain I wouldn't have such a sweet and happy girl as I do without your guys' guidance.

Re: New to guinea pigs, learning quickly, need help
Isolde is still not a mommy, we're pretty certain there are no babies(yay!). I'm considering changing her name though, to suit her better. She's soooo freakin adoreable,
. When I pet/scratch her back she vibrates and purrs and desperately reaches for one of my hands so she can lick it to death,
! She loves squeaking and whistling at me if I'm not paying attention to her and plays with me tons during floor time. I never had any idea how awesome owning a guinea pig could be. She's totally the awesomest little girl EVER.

Re: New to guinea pigs, learning quickly, need help
Okay, so I know it's been a LOOOONG time since I've updates. Like a billion years in cavy terms. So here we go!
Isolde/Squeak is not prego! Woot! I decided to change her name to Squeak because that seems to be her favorite thing to do. Hop at me and squeak. Or squeak and eat, or just yell at me because I'm not petting her RIGHT THAT SECOND!
! It's taken a while, but tomorrow I go to get her two new cage mates! Yay! They're the same coloring as her, though less white... And peruvian. This is going to be epic! They're totally sweet little girls, absolute little balls of precious. I can't wait! I hope they lick me as much as Squeak does and omg, I'll get to brush them! O.O
Can you tell I'm ridiculously excited?
I'm getting a ginourmous c&c cage setup thing on Wednesday, it's going to be amazing! It's also going to take over half my bedroom... But... I think I can handle that if it means that I'll be able to enjoy the love of three super sweet little guinea pigs.
Now to figure out name possibilities for the two new baby girls!

my tip to you as a newbie myself is use the search button and type in a keyword ie. types of hay. You will get past posts with awesome info!

Re: New to guinea pigs, learning quickly, need help
Just picked up Squeak's new cage mates, tomorrow I get their new c&c cage(it's HUGE, will take up about half of my bedroom,
) and fabric and supplies to make fleece liners for it.
These girls are ridiculously adoreable. Omg. They're black and brown, one is about the same size as Squeak and the other is about half her size. The larger one is mostly black with chocolate swirls and the littler girl is black with a brown band around her tummy and a white dot on her forehead. I'm going to let their hair grow out a bit before I decide how I want it to look, but either way, a mohawk is going to happen somewhere.
