Re: Calls for law change after family barbeques dog (Australian Broadcasting Corporat

After they change the law they will probably celebrate with a barbeque and throw a few cows, pigs, chickens and shrimps on the "barbie" 'cause that isn't disturbing or barbaric at all.

I simply do not see the difference between eating a dog and eating a cow. I'll bet that the dog at least had a better life and kinder death then your typical meat cow, pig or chicken.

Re: Calls for law change after family barbeques dog (Australian Broadcasting Corporat

my sister in law is a chinese immigrant and she has talked about them eating other meats that most people think wrong, but she says that there is a difference between pets and animals.

I am not a vegetarian by any means, but I think if you are killing for food it is no different than going to the store and buying beef, pork, or chicken.

That is very upsetting, why would you do that to a family pet?

Really, something you have named and played with? How could someone do that?

I guess I should have clarified my first post a little more. To do that to a pet is disturbing. Personally I couldnt raise an animal that I was going to eat. So I agree with all comments posted. Im not a vegetarian by any means but I couldnt eat a pet!

Me too. At least the dog wasn't exploited and treated like a commercial product.

(although the idea of eating dog does make me feel sick to my stomach )

I personally have a lot more respect for people that eat meat that are also willing to kill the animal themselves, rather than tooling off to a grocery store and picking up an antiseptic package of chicken or cow or pig that, like the family dog or cat in our country, could have been named and cared for and appreciated rather than raised in an environment far removed from any kind of human kindness or compassion.

People killing and eating their pets is as sad a concept to me as animals being carted off to slaughter every day, but on the other hand, people that raise and eat their own food are also not sparing themselves the struggle and suffering an animal goes through at slaughter, like so many people do in this country when they head out to the local ShopMart and pick up a package of pork ribs or chicken breasts.
