I think that may cause some arguments if it's public. I've seen it happen in other forums that have that feature. And I don't use it because of that. |

I REALLY like that idea. But my only thought would be if it's in heated thread the person who disagree's would be groaned. Or is that the point? And I'm SURE it would get biased but it would be fun to try out. |

I'm looking into whether or not it would be possible to change the button title to "Agree" from Thanks, but just for that forum. Then I could make the groan button "Disagree" and I think that might work. Otherwise, I'd have to settle for calling it "No Thanks" so that it's equal but opposite. |

I think the agree and disagree is a good idea. You could always just try it out and see how everyone reacts to it. |

A person with the title of Cavy Caged means they can post but their posts won't be viewed by the public until a moderator approves them. They also cannot vote on posts. A Cavy Person cannot post in the kitchen or Vegetarian forums and cannot vote on posts. A moderator is a member of the staff. We moderate the forum and photo galleries, dole out infractions (impactions is what we call them here on our forum) and try to keep the peace on the forum and many other behind the scenes things. |

So what would be an example of a Cavy Cage and a Cavy person? Ex: what would make a person either? Ly, I think you're very nice, Thanks. |

I like the idea of "disagree and agree", definitely sounds nicer. |

UPDATE: I've installed the latest update of the modification. The reporting option under Quick Links: Post Ranking Stats is now much better. You can sort on columns and such by clicking on them. The Post Ranking Stats is only available to members in good standing. Visitors, caged, and banned folks can't read them. AND: I was able to put in a time limit on voting. You no longer have the option to vote on threads that are more than 90 days old. 90 days is our "it's too old--warning before you post" threshold. If anyone had a negative vote on an older post, let me know and I'll remove it. Last edited by CavySpirit; 03-06-09 at 09:10 pm. Reason: Changed 60 days to 90 days. |

OOPS. Had to edit to 90 days. That's the same threshold that I have set for discouraging new posts on old threads. |

Appreciated Post! : +7 (+7/-0)
The reporting available on Quick Links for Post Ranking Stats has been improved. The user name of the poster being voting upon is now available along with the ability to sort on that column. Hopefully at some point, when the author of the modification has time, I want to display a member's voting record along with the results of other peoples votes on their posts. For example, under Posts: 123 (Post Ranks) I'd like to add: Votes: 456 +85% which would mean that this user has voted up or down 456 times and has voted up versus down 85% of the time. Ideally, I'd like a little smilie to be associated with their percentage level--kind of an indicator of how they like the forum posters. Of course, the actual votes are still anonymous. Sooooo, what I would like to see and encourage are voter records somewhere over +50% and ideally less than +100%. I would like to see that most votes are positive but there are some negative. To me, that's a healthy percentage. I would like to discourage all negative voting. I mean, you must like some posts, right? Also, I would like to discourage voting 'against someone' on general principals. Hopefully, by exposing both the user name of the poster and their vote counts in the reporting, it will be become apparent if someone is the target of a 'No Thanks' campaign, regardless of the merit of their posts. That pretty much goes against the spirit of this feature. The idea is to let people know when they should be rephrasing or repositioning the content of their posts and giving them a chance to do so. Cheers, Teresa |

Dumb question: Why is it that not all threads have the buttons to do a post ranking? I'm not talking about old ones either. I mean one that have been started today or within the past week. |

Not all forums have the option turned on. I may have missed one. For example, I have it turned off in the Kitchen. There we just use the public Thanks, No Thanks. Other than forum-wide, it should be on. |

Oh, and I may have a little bug in it not showing in sub-forums. I have to check that out. |
