Social Groups: Update on Social Group Policy

Okay, based on the new group that IluvePiggies just created, it's helped me come up with my first official policy on social groups. I'll be changing the settings and the group that he/she created shortly.

First, no Newbies will be allowed to create Social Groups. You need to have an understanding of what the forum offers before creating a redundant group.

Second, no group may be created for the express purpose to GIVE ADVICE about guinea pigs, human health, etc.

Third, social groups are for SOCIALIZING and support and are not meant to take the place of our standard forum discussion areas.

Advice-type posts that belong in the main forum won't be allowed in the groups. I'll be figuring out better ways to state, control and moderate all of this shortly.

Thanks for being patient with me as we sort out all of these new features.

What other kinds of things should we not be allowed to create social groups for? I know some obvious ones, but I was wondering about other less obvious things.

Sorry, I should have contcted you first.....I really didn't know that Newbies weren't allowed to create groups. Also, when I was saying advice, I meant like telling them good hay and beds and stuff...plus, I do not know much about Guinea Pigs. Just the basic things that you would need to know when you own a Guinea Pig. If you want, you can cancel my group. It would make me sad and all my members sad but if its the rules, then its the rules.

I didn't cancel your group. I just changed the owner and description (that is, the mission) of the group. The info you created the group for belongs in the main forum.

Are other members allowed to create discussions on there because when I was mantianing it, no one seemed to do it?

yeah they can. At least I was able to do so in the Vegetarian section that CavySpirit is maintaining.

I bet that if its on moderated status, you have to approve the threads.

I can think of a member who isn't banned, that would have fun in that kind of group.

What about a group called "Carolina Cavies" or something like that? Maybe "Cavies of the Carolinas". It would be a group for north and south carolina members on here. I was sort of thinking that this would be a bad or not-so-good idea, because I feel like if I didn't live in N.C., then I would feel almost segregated. Same as if someone caught onto my idea and made a "California Cavies" or any other state/country. I might feel excluded or segregated, almsot as if that kind of group was like a high school "click" or something like that.
Yea or nay?

I want to just have some links to Stephenie Meyer's website, the drafts of Midnight Sun, where you can buy Twilight memorbilia and some fansites that she has linked on her website that have fanfiction that I think is really good. I don't know if it would be allowed, since it could be advertising...I really don't know. Anyway, thanks in advance for an answer, T!

I would let you, but at the moment, I don't think there is much of a way to put links in the social groups, other than in discussions. Let me know how it goes.

How do I add pictures to the gallery on my social group? I once tried it and it said that they were added but when I looked at it, they weren't there.
