ATTENTION

The Mods are going to be going through the galleries doing major housekeeping and deleting innappropriate pictures.

This will include:

-close-ups of your GPS that do not show useful info or are not deemed "unbearably cute". Note that to be deemed "too cute to delete" it had better be something REALLY cute and special.

-pictures of food such as salads, Pellets in bags, hay, etc...These pictures must show something useful such as unique storage solutions. Some photos may stay, others may be deleted. There will be no favoritism involved, just our best judgement.

-The same old-same old. By this I mean store bought and common hidey houses and other supplies. If it's something that can be found at almost any pet supply store it's not useful.

-anything else we feel does not belong.

Because of the huge amount of house cleaning that will be getting done we will not be able to contact you about the deletions.

There is nothing personal. Do not take it as such. If your picture/s get deleted please do not make a big deal over it. We do not hate you or your pictures. It is simply time to houseclean the galleries.

If we get questions about why pictures have been deleted you will be directed here to this thread.

Another type of picture that will be deleted;

Blurry, too dark or pictures that make it unclear what exactly we are looking at.

This mod is starting to weed the galleries out now. I have deleted a few pictures already.

VJ and I have gone through a couple of the galleries already.

Hidey houses- unless you have a new type of hidey spot, we really don't want to see more pics of pigloos, fiddlestix, wooden huts, step stools, etc. There are many photos of those already there.

Hay racks- If you don't have a good clear shot of the hayrack/hay area itself and I see more pig than hayrack, it's getting deleted. We want to see what you make your hay racks or areas out of, not the pigs eating the hay or a pic of mostly a pig and very little hay rack or hay area.

Cozies- We want to see pictures of the cozies themselves, not close ups of the pigs in the cozies. We are interested in what kind, type, shape, and material your cozy, pillows, sleep sacks, cuddle cups, etc. are made from. So please don't just upload close up shots where you can see more pig than cozy because they will get deleted.

Toys- We are interested in what kinds of toys your pigs have but we want shots of the toys in clear view and not pics with half a toy in view and the rest of the pic with the pig playing with it.

Supplies- This gallery is supposed to be photos of how you store your supplies or creative storage solutions as well as a few photos of different other supplies.

Open Cages- This gallery is not a catch all for pictures that members are too lazy to post in the correct gallery. It has been this in the past but will be no longer. If you have a Multi-level cage, it does not belong in Open Cages, it belongs in Open, Multi-level. I moved a lot of photos out of the Open Cages gallery into the proper galleries. Please use the dropdown menu when uploading photos and post your photo in the appropriate gallery.

Good luck guys, you have your hands full. No problem here. Feel free to delete some of mine. I'm going to be adding some new shots and will probably be deleting anyways. Have fun!! *ducks from getting swiped by the sceptor*

To be honest, I'm glad. It's tiresome to go through the galleries looking for new ideas, but getting the same old pictures all the time. Eventually you start to think there is nothing new or useful, and give up because there are just too many pages to go through. Good luck!

I feel the exact same way... I'm always trying to figure out ways to make my cavies cage bigger, better, and more fun for them. But having to go through page after page of the same stuff can really take the fun out of this site.
Good luck with your cleaning up and don't go too crazy trying to figure out what stays and what goes (more than likely all my pics can go - no big deal).

Cage photos that meet or exceed the recommended sizes for the amount of pigs, preferably shots of the entire cage. See above, post #5 for the rest.

What is not allowed are petstore cage photos, photos of piggies or other animals and cage photos that do not meet the minimum recommended sizes of cavy cages. If you want to show off your pig(s), do it in a thread. If the mods see other photos that we don't think are appropriate they will be deleted. We are really cracking down on what is allowed in the galleries.

Okay thanks, I just wanted to make sure as it sounds at first (by the main title) that it is for any kind of general photo, but then when you look at the description it becomes a little bit more specific. I just didn't want to post a pic of my piggy and put you through the trouble of removing it

You're busy enough as it is, with everything to sort through!

Now that the clean sweep is pretty much done I'm taking off the sticky.

Here are the approx. counts

Deleted - 320
Moved - 125

Now we can just concentrate on dealing with photos as they are uploaded. No one was singled out through this. In fact both T, our fearless leader, had photos deleted and that mean ol' Ly deleted one of mine. I was actually going to delete it myself but Ly beat me to it.

I deleted a couple of my own photos too. I don't remember deleting one of VJ's photos, but I probably did. I did delete a couple of T's from old_albums and I think one of Treens too. I still have a couple of galleries to go through but the majority of the cleaning has been done.

That's why I said nothing was personal and no one was singled out. It's best that, like me, you didn't look at who posted the picture. You looked at the quality of the photo and it's value to the galleries. My GPs eating a bowl of veggies had no value to the galleries and needed to go. If you didn't do it, I would have.

See, even mods try to sneak one in once and a while.

I am just bringing to everyone's attention once again that the Photo Gallery is not the place to be sharing cute pictures of your Guinea Pigs.

The Gallery is to show off your cage, design, toy, loft, hay rack, etc ideas.

A close-up of your pet in it's cage (with maybe a litterbox or grid in the background somewhere) or a picture that contains more animal then cozy, hay rack, etc does not constitute a good gallery photo.

You are welcome to put pictures of your Pigs in a thread but please don't put them in the gallery. I hate having to delete all of those cute GP photos. They are indeed cute, but not for the gallery.

You moderators are so tough. I know that this forum is for cages but could you possibly start in the gallery photos of pigs but you can section them in the kind of pig that would be in that section and ask only one picture per person and if they want to update they have to delete the old one??

Sweet Sarah- this question has been answered before. T said that the gallery is for educational use for people looking for ideas for their cage. Pictures of pigs clutter up these galleries, so now pictures of your pigs should be placed in the forum.
