Improper use of Photo Galleries - Guinea Pig Cages, Care, Store, Photos of Guinea Pigs and More Forum!

Hey folks, I have had to delete several photos from the galleries. Most of these photos were pictures of your adorable Guinea Pigs.

As cute as your GPs are, the photo gallery is not the place to be posting pictures of them. The galleries are reserved for cage and accessory photos to help people build and improve their cages.

You are welcome to start a thread to show off your pets but please do not place them in the gallery. As much as I don't want to, I have to do my job and delete them if I see them.

Also if you post a cage photo make certain that it meets the minimum requirements that this forum issues. We will not allow cages that do not meet the minimum requirements to remain in the gallery (example; a 2x2 cage). Pet store cages and any cage that has different species cohabitating in the same cage (such as Chinchilla and GP or Rabbit and GP) will also be deleted.

It never hurts to post this over and over VJ. I just told them the other day in cage chat that petstore cage photos that don't meet the recommended size per this site for x amount of pigs will be deleted and pictures of pigs only will be deleted.

I have had it!

A certain member, who chooses NOT to receive PMs. Has, within hours of me starting this thread, posted blurry cage photos (useless), close-ups of her GPs that show no useful cage info (more uselessness), doubles of the same close-up of her GPs (waste of gallery space) and a picture of a pet store cage claiming it is a 2x5 (a lie). I have measured that exact cage in a petstore and it is NOWHERE near minimum size requirements! She also posted a blurry close-up of her GP in the petshop cage.

This member has royally TICKED ME OFF! I have in the past deleted some of those same photos. What about the original deletions confused you?! If you dare post more of that rubbish on the galleries I will issue you a 1 week ban.

I'm sure you know who you are.

More things that do not belong in the galleries.

The galleries are not the place to ask questions. Ask questions on the forum. You can add a link to the picture you are asking about in your post.

you should have a gallerie of photos of guinea pigs for their owners to be proud. you don't have o be all snobby and get ticked off just because people didn't know and it WAS there FIRST time here. So, take it easy. Oh and maybe their cage does fit the requirements, you didn't go to their house and see it for yourself to know.

Gee, if you'd bother to READ THE RULES before posting and submitting photos, then you WOULD know better even if it WAS your FIRST time here.

People are more than welcome to post photos of their guinea pigs in different threads, but there's not "gallerie of photos of guinea pigs for their owners to be proud" because this forum is about CAGES and how to build cages; it's not simply about guinea pigs. It also costs MONEY to host so many photos. You want to have a "gallerie" of photos of just guinea pigs? Great - go start your own forum and do just that.

PeteyandGrace - I sent you a very nice, polite PM about your pictures and about your small pet store cage which I didn't mention until now.

I was not mearly thinking of you when I bumped up this post I was thinking of several others that have also had their pictures deleted in the last week of so. People that took the polite email I sent them as it should be taken--a gentle reminder/education about a rule we have here.

I don't normally name names when people misuse the galleries but when they get ugly about it on the forum I'm happy to address them in public.

Now, I'm certain you have realized I am a moderator on this forum and it is my job to enforce the rules and keep this forum running. If you ever speak back to me like that again for breaking rules I may have to demote or ban you.

Hahahahahahaha Oh my that was funny! For everyone's knowledge PeteyandGrace posted a rather vulgar reply that needed to be deleted because they have quite the potty mouth.

Ugh. I hate when people post off photos in the gallery. There was one of a person's DOG that had to be deleted last week.

Yeah, I deleted the dog. This morning I deleted at least 4 close-ups of someone's GPs and a supposed hamster cage thing that looked like some sort of an square space helmet. I deleted the hamster cage because the picture was small, hard to tell what it was and I had no idea how big it was. It looked really small though.

I have been saving some of the awful cage photos I delete from the galleries. I am collecting them and will eventually be starting a "how not to do it" thread (closed) with a seperate discussion thread to showcase those pictures. I will not name names but I'm sure some of the cage owners will get offended and need to speak up even though they would be better off staying quiet.

Is it any pet store cages or just ones that are too small?

I posted cage pictures of a pet store cage that was equal to a 2 x 5 C&C but they were deleted. The cage is definately the size I said it was, I've got pictures of it next to a grid and it definately meets the size requirements, but it was deleted?

Even comparing it to that grid there is no way it is 5 feet long and just by looking at it it looks much smaller then 5 feet. I want the make and model # of that cage so I can look it up myself. If someone else happens to know the info on that cage please either post it or PM me or Ly with it.

Don't forget that it is also the INSIDE useable dimentions that count not the outside (widest part of the cage) measurements.
