Almost everyone has received PMs from the mods. My first one upset me and then I realized the mods have hundreds of posts to read each day. I am an adult and can be corrected without getting upset or mad. The purpose of the rules is to make reading the posts easier for all. I can abide by the rules of this forum and accept a PM if I break the rules. It is actually quite nice to have legible posts without a lot of smileys and flashing signatures. I think some of the members need to develop a thick skin, too, and not feel they are being treated unfairly. And the mods do have thick skins, as stated above, and you can respectfully disagree with them on a point and they won't retaliate or be mean to you. They are adults and we should be, too. |

Dearest sdpiggylvr How are you? I hope this note finds you well and happy. The weather in New Orleans was lovely today I wish you could have been here to enjoy it with me and my family. Wouldn't it be lovely if there was a rule that on nice days you got to stay home from work or school to enjoy it properly? Speaking of rules, please familiarize yourself with the rules of this forum and obey them so that the moderators can stop sending you messages reminding you of the rules of this forum. If you will obey the rules then I can spend more time outside, enjoying this beautiful weather, and less time in front of a computer. Thank you for your kind consideration Sincerely and with deepest affection VJ Last edited by VoodooJoint; 11-02-09 at 04:33 pm. |

Thanks Voodoo. I almost peed laughing. You cheered me up no end. If only life was so simple and carefree. |

Please don't change your PM's as I feel they are professional and to the point. Let's not beat around the bush. |

Fridzalone, I never got a kind one like that. I usually got one that was a bit mean. It made me feel like I was stupid or something. I'm sure the mods mean well, but sometimes things said on the Internet come across the way they aren't. Maybe that's what happened, but mine definitely didn't have a kind, polite hint to it. People can say things one way and mean it another way, but I'm not going to dwell on the subject. The bottom line is that I appreciate polite yet stern warnings and I wanted to suggest this to the mods. |

VoodooJoint and Pigsmakemesmile - that was pretty funny ... but I'm not asking for a love note. I am just asking for something that was written with a kind thought in mind. Such as: "I'm sure she didn't mean to. She's a newbie, after all." Something to the tone of that. A pleasant reminder of the rules and a warning is all I want or need. I'd rather not get some nasty note that makes me feel bad. (I've never received such a note.) You know what I mean. The tone is what I'm talking about. When mods send notes with seemingly kind words but with an angry tone, it makes me feel bad. Like I've disappointed the president or something. That's all I'm saying. I understand that you have rules and need to inforce them. Just keep it in mind what I've suggested. Everybody's got feelings and there's no need to hurt them. Trust me, I'm sure I've received WAY worse pms from the mods than you have. I still didn't complain and still don't. It was my own fault and I deserved it. Just simply don't do anything to receive a PM. |

Sd, it seems to me like you are a person whose feelings are easily hurt even by the most simplest of things. I was not mean to you in the last infraction you received. I did not yell at you or call you names. I simply told you what you did wrong and what the consequences could be if you were to continue down that path. Quite frankly, I think it's time to get over it and move on now just like everyone else does. |

THAT's the line that killed me! It's just as funny and almost as corny as someone saying "I love you with every fiber of my body" !!! I have the biggest smile on my face right now... |

Yes, it's true. I am easily offended. I'm not proud of it and it doesn't really have any benefits. But yes, that's the way I am. I guess I'll move on and quit rambling on and on and on and on and on . . . |

I think she just wants the MODS to not use a 'you're a five year old' approach. Where they say things like 'this is not very nice' since alot of things THEY say are not very nice. Alot of people recieve rude comments or precieve alot of the things the MODS say are rude. If the Moderates expect to be respected and are offended by any bashing that happens then they should change their approach when talking to people in the forums. Alot of the time if seems as though they're belittling the person or making them feel like they know nothing about guinea pigs. No bashing of the Mods would happen if the Mods did nothing to deserve it. I will probably recieve yet another infraction for this for some reason relating to bashing the mods or something but, it happens in real life and it will happen here. |

I'm sorry but we don't use a "you're a five year old" approach. Most every forum you join will have some sort of rules. And at most forums you join, they expect you to follow those rules. It's no different here. Quote:

If you want to have a discussion then actually hold a discussion. If you don't wish to be treated like a 5 year old then don't act like one. Stating the equivalent to, "I know you are, but what am I?", accomplishes nothing and looks like you are simply posting to get in the last word. |

I'm sorry if I upset you. I didn't mean to. Sorry again. I will no longer post if the Mods posted last and seemingly ended the conversation. Thanks for the friendly heads up. =) |

But online, I'm not that way. I will admit, I was at one point, but then I realized, and like you've said before, that it's so hard to tell tone from text sometimes. When someone responded to something I posted, I thought that they disliked me or found me to be annoying...but that's not the case (not on this forum, but years ago, before I learned not to take it personally). It's easy to read something way wrong since text isn't accompanied by tone or body language. When people respond with their own opinions it may seem like they're making it personal, but they're not. They're doing the same thing you and I do...just stating their opinion. When a Mod sends a pm or quotes a post, it's to keep us in check and correct something, such as poor advice. I know that if a lot of people share the same opinion that is different from yours, it's really easy to feel ganged up on. I guess the best thing to do is what I did...remember that people can't see us or hear us, just as we can't see or hear them. Take the text for what it is, and try not to add anything to it. It makes things a ton easier if we try to keep that in mind. And really, it's quite freeing to do so. It allows for better conversation and I find it's beneficial to be able to share opinions without worrying about someone having a meltdown over it. I just figured I would tell you how I handled it when I felt like you do. |

Look, you've already admitted you're a person who's way more sensitive than most. The solution to that is not to go telling the rest of the world to get nicer in order to accommodate you. It's your responsibility to learn to react in a more productive way if you don't want to go around alternating between being upset and feeling guilty for the rest of your days. I wish you well at that. |

I am not speaking about anyone specific here, but a lot of the posters I see who feel the mods are being mean just seem very emotionally immature and unable to handle anything but cuddley carebear talk. I honestly don't know how some of the posters I see function in the real world, particularly the workplace environment where bosses and even peers will simply say "this is wrong, I need you to correct it." I imagine them crying in the 3rd stall from the left half the day, and whining the rest. To be fair though, I AM mean. |
