yesterdays news and other paper litters.....

i have 2 new piggies and am kind of new to this.... i got my piggies litterboxes one for the kitchen under hay rack and one for downstairs......i got the petsmart brand of yesterdays news......its called exquisicat recycled paper litter......unscented no pine..... but the pellets feel a little hard to me will it hurt the piggys feet? they seem to sleep in thier litterboxes sometimes.....

Most likely not. If it was hurting them, they probably wouldn't walk on it much less sleep on it.

I have used a similar product before and usually put a layer of hay on top, mine seem to like pooping in hay any way, don't know if its any better for them but I figure it cant hurt. Welcome to the world of piggies

That's what I do too -- add hay on top. They much prefer having loose hay than hay contained in a hay rack!

i wasnt sure so i used carefresh when i changed fleece tonight......but hay on top is a good idea!

I think that pellet litter is ok in small areas, like litter boxes, but not for the whole cage. I think it might hurt their feet if they had to step on it all the time.
