How can I become a moderator? - Guinea Pig Cages, Care, Store, Photos of Guinea Pigs and More Forum!

I was wondering how I could become a moderator?

And I was also wondering if I could do a Picture contest. it would only be of Guinea Pigs and I would rate by cuteness. no prize. just to see how cute your Cavy is?

You can't just become a moderator. The moderators themselves decide who is a mod/admin or not. But I believe the last moderator added was Susan9608.
As for the picture contest, you would need to PM a moderator or administrator an that one.

She's the main moderator in charge of the site, in charge of it when Cavy Spirit, the owner, doesn't have time to handle daily matters.

So yes she is a Mod.

The mods are Ly&Pigs, VoodooJoint, salana, Susan9608, and Percy'sMom. Also, there is the owner of the site Cavy Spirit, and she is also a mod. The people with their names in green are the mods/administrators.

You don't really "become" a mod. They've been here for years and you haven't been here a month!

Ditto to auburn. You'd have to PM a mod. And you probably wouldn't be able to set one up. Only a mod could.

I know a long time ago there was a mod. She was the first. Seems she's disapeared though!

Treen stepped down from moderating to spend time with her (human) baby.

IluvePiggies, to become a mod, you have to give good advice, be dedicated to rescue and to the board, be mature and good at resolving disputes, and be here a long time so Teresa (CavySpirit) and the other mods know and trust you.

I think you also need a hugely strong backbone and a lot of patience. I've seen some things the mods go through on the site and some of it isn't pretty. I commend the mods on the good job their doing so far! you guys put up with a heck of a lot of crap. It definetly isn't a job where you let your feelings get the best of you!

I've only owned Guinea Pigs for two years but I know alot about them. I am very mature so and I actually had to almost stop a agruement that went on in one of my post when I asked if I was a bad person for adopting at a pet store.

Just because you've owned guinea pigs for two years doesn't make you an expert.

salana studied lethals for a number of years after she found her little einstein was one.

Ly&pigs studied guinea pig diet for 3 years.

VoodooJoint is/was a vet tech.

And susan...and percy'smom...well I don't know their stories!

They have been on this site pretty much since it started. Teresea knows them and trusts them, and they are smart, stubborn people who stick to what they should beleive in. They take alot of crap from other whiney members, and don't complain about it.

IluvePiggies; It will take years for you to be a mod. People who have been here as long as the mods and give just as good advice as them (okay well almost ) aren't mods. And I'm going to be realistic, you probably won't be one. We have thousands of members here. Members who have been here longer and have more experience. So lets be honest, neither of us will ever realistically become a mod any time soon.

So for now, just compliment them and pretend to like them (when you secretly talk behind their backs about their lousy moderating

) LOL.

Thanks. I never knew that. I though maybe she was demoted or something. *shrug* I couldn't find her profile to look for her posts.

Absolutely not. We try to avoid excess fluff on this site. Allowing something like this opens the door for all sorts of other cotton candy nonsense.
