Pop ups and my email

I'm just wondering why there are so many pop ups on this site. It is rather annoying everytime I am trying to do something to have yet another pop up open on my computer that somehow is bypassing my pop up blocker. This is only happening here no other sites

Also do you sell email addresses because since I signed up here my email address that I have not used anywhere else is getting spammed like crazy with Viagra ads and other sexual enhancing emails It is rather discouraging if you are selling the email addresses.

Teresa does not sell emails.

As far as Pop-ups, the only pop-ups on this site are if you have chosen to have a pop-up alert when you get a new PM. If you don't want that then go into your Profile and change it.

There are absolutely no pop-ups on this site, except as VJ said, notification of PMs, which as a moderator of a vBulletin forum yourself, you should know you have the ability to turn off. If you've got some technical issue and you really think there is a pop-up coming from this site, I suggest you email me a screen shot and I'll look into it. teresa@cavyspirit.com. As to your email problems, they are not coming from this site. As you should also know, vBulletin protects your email address. If someone chooses to email you, they never get to see your email address, it goes through the vBulletin mailer. In fact, my vBulletin forum is on the most current release and includes absolute, up-to-date privacy protection. It will be on the new release as soon as it goes Gold, probably within two weeks.

Of course I don't sell the email addresses. I rather resent the implication. NO ONE else in the many, many years since I've had this forum and site has ever complained about a such a thing. I suggest you look at your own computer, your own surfing practices, your own email account and what they do with it. Your issue is not coming from here.

You may want to run a virus scan in your computer also. About two years ago, when I got my mom's computer, it had a virus in it. I would get all these pop up ad's on my computer to the point it would freeze. Plus my Windows homepage would defaught to another page called "about blank" and everytime I would change the defaught to google, it would go back to the same page. My boyfriend got smart. He decided to research why my computer was doing this. It ended up being the about blank virus. Also my Notan Antivirus was picking up there was a virus (a little screen would pop up and say I had a virus), But when I ran the actual scaner, it would not pick the virus up. I had to reformat the whole computer. This was not a big deal because I just got it from my mom and I had nothing saved on it at the time, but it took hours to figure out what the problem was. Ditto to what Jackie said. It sounds like you've got a lot of spyware or viruses on your computer.

There is a free spyware scanner called Spybot Search and Destroy. It can get rid of adware on your computer that many virus scanners cannot. You can find a place to down load it here: The home of Spybot-S&D! I run it on my computer at least once a week. The first time I was amazed at how many adware programs I had on my computer, especially since I have a very nice virus scanner provided by my university. There is a free spyware scanner called Spybot Search and Destroy.

I use that in conjunction with Ad-Aware. Sometimes Spybot won't pick up everything and neither will Ad-Aware but if you use them both, you can completely rid your pc of spyware.

Avast is one of the very best free anti-virus programs out there. I've been using it for a long time (probably almost 2 years) and love it. I used to use AVG but Avast does so much better.

Are you new to having an email address? I find that for the first little while you get very little spam or pop ups but the longer you have been out there in cyber space the more you get spammed. Also regularily clean out your internet brower. Clean your history and cookies etc. That should help. I use AVG free and ewido anti spyware. I would also recommend any of the others featured on this thread as I have heard good things about them all. Best of luck with things!

MrsHauler - I've also never had a single problem from this website, nor any increase in junkmail, pop-ups, etc. Perhaps you should check the security of the other forum you are involved with before looking towards this one.

You may want to install a google toolbar, because they have a free pop-up blocker.

As for junk e-mail, I don't think cavy cages is responsible for any of the e-mails. Maybe somebody on this site saw your adress and sold it? My e-mail has been spammed, but all you do is delete it.

I have never had pop uprs either..i know that some sites carry them and they automatically appear on your machine but i have not had them over here as i have pop up blocker.
