so how did your guinea pig manage without hay for a few days? and what did you use to replace the hay? This (broken link removed) states that hay should be the primary source of their diet because its good for their digestive systems. Did you just feed them fruits and veggies and did that lead to a somewhat wetter-than-usual stool? Sorry for all the questions, I just wanted to know if anything changed with your guinea pig just in case i happen to run out of hay for a few days myself.

My pigs did just fine. They had normal stool but when I added the hay back in when we got some more they went nuts and I had to refill it 5 minutes later :)

Wow, I'm honestly surprised your girls did so well. I ran out of hay for a day once. In that one day I noticed how much less my girls were pooping :( I felt so terrible.

What I do is keep some fresh grass growing in my room on the window sill I rarely run out of hay but, it has happened... fresh grass is a great alternative if you're in a bind! Most pet stores carry small grow kits! I have a few and cut it weekly so they not only have it as a treat but, a back up!

As long as you provide them guinea pig, or rabbit pellets and fruit and vegies, they should be fine without hay for a couple days.

Guinea pigs cannot eat rabbit pellets you might want to do research on that!!! ❤️
