Storing hay?

I've recently realized how much money I would be saving by going straight to a farm and asking for bales of hay instead of paying bunches for these little bags that last two days anyway. Yet I'm not sure where to store the hay. My brother thinks we should just keep it in the garage (off the floor) but I didn't think that was a very good idea. It'd be great if you would help me out

Re: Storing hay?

This is what Guinea Lynx suggests:

Your storage area should be:

Dry
Free of rodents
Off the ground (provide adequate air circulation)

oh

Thanks for the reply, but I already read that. I mean, are the fumes going to be bad for the hay? Will they hurt my guinea pigs?

Re: oh

I would think that the fumes would be bad for the hay and the pigs. Clean air and dry area. I just put my in large Rubbermaid bins.

Re: oh

Unless you've got a particularly stinky garage, the garage should be okay to store hay in.

Keep it in a box or bin, not in any plastic bags.
