Re: Guinea pig menu
Seriously? You're going to follow that all week long? To me, that falls under two categories: "glutton for punishment" and "way too much effort."
Give them some lettuce and bell pepper every day. Aim for a piece of carrot and a cherry tomato (or the equivalent) also every day. Keep some other stuff around and throw it in the salad when you make it up. Mine love corn, so I try to keep that on hand. Other than the things I've listed above, they get whatever I've got in the fridge.

Re: Guinea pig menu
I have read that the pellets should be their main diet with veggies as a treat. Yet somewhere else I read veggies should be their main diet, with a 1/4 cup pellets. Oh, and don't forget the timothy hay all the time for them to chew on, it assists their teeth, and digestion too.
So, my piggies get quite the layout every morning, depending on what I have on hand, as well as what they like. They don't seem to care for sweet pea pods too much. They love the mini sweet peppers! And baby carrots. I try to give them peppers and carrots every morning...I go for about 3 baby carrots each...that's what's in the dish, who actually eats what is totally up to them. (I have 3 piggies) They LOVE parsley, I'll give them the whole bundle. They only get that occasionally. Blueberries are liked, but not raspberries or blackberries. Strawberries are loved. The berries are only while on hand, not every day. Cherry tomatoes too, when on hand, but as my hubby eats them too...first come, first served. Haven't tried corn, can I just lay a cob in there? So yea, go for what you think your piggies like, you can tell.

Re: Guinea pig menu
It really doesn't have to be all that complicated. Pellets are the least important thing in the diet. Timothy or a similar hay is most important. I give a lettuce mix every morning and night. I just buy the pre-mixed bags of lettuce (avoid iceberg). I supplement that with mix-ins, like pepper, carrot, cilantro, or whatever. At random times I give little treats like grape pieces or carrot slices. Not at all complicated.

Re: Guinea pig menu
Greet them every morning with a treat of some veggies, just doesn't need to be a certain set, you can change out what you give them. Make sure they have fresh water, fresh pellets, and timothy hay for the day. Play with them during the day, take them out of the cage and free play in a safe area, give them a little treat when returning them to the cage. And then, maybe before getting ready for bed, give them another serving of veggies. If they get too fat, then cut back. Do what makes them happiest. They'll learn the routine tho if you do it every day and will expect something everyday.

Re: Guinea pig menu
My chart is in post #2 on this thread.
Divide the food in three portions, if you have time to feed them that often. Otherwise, two. Give pellets once a day.

Re: Guinea pig menu
Basically give them greens every day (lettuce, cilantro), with a few small pieces of bell pepper, maybe a baby carrot, then whatever else you have. Don't feed fruit too much as it has a lot of sugar, so limit that maybe as a treat

Gullik, if you're going to post questions, then read the answers that people have taken the time to write, instead of just asking the same question over and over.

Re: Guinea pig menu
@KWpiggies Grass hay of good quality (Like oxbow or KMS) is the biggest part of their diet, they need unlimited amounts of it, and that's mostly what they eat (About 75% of their diet) Veggies come in second, then pellets last. Some people don't even feed pellets. Also it does need to be an exact science to some extent, because some veggies are bad for guinea pigs, and some can cause issues if fed too much or too often. Such as too much fruit can cause mouth soars, ect. They also should have a good range of veggies, and some staple veggies to get everything they need.
I feed my pigs once a day in one big burst of piggy stuff. I'll take them out and hold them each, put them back, spread their veggies around the cage (Mental stimulation) give them 1/8 a cup of pellets each in a forage pan thingy, refill all the water bottles and water dishes, and refill the hay piles. This makes it much easier, and the pigs will slowly eat throughout the day. My pigs every day get each one large leaf of red or green leaf lettuce, 1/3rd of a yellow bell pepper, and some corn husks and silk. The also have other stuff that I give once a week. They get an ear of corn (Husk and silk and all) one carrot, some sort of fruit, and green beans. Though everything else just comes from what I'm eating, like if I decide I want some strawberries, I'll set a few aside for them, or if I make a salad, I'll throw in a few leaves of lettuce (As long as it's red or green leaf that I'm using) Ect.

Re: Guinea pig menu
Didn't read the whole thread, so this might have been stated already but you shouldn't feed parsley every day - too much calcium. And if you're feeding something else that is high in calcium you should skip parsley that day. Just FYI

Re: Guinea pig menu
Gullik, Feed twice a day. Mix a salad together divide it in 2 and feed. The time is not important. Each pig needs 1 cup of veggies aday. Unlimited hay and water.
There is a great food list in the diet/nutrition thread. It gives all the veggies and fruit and how often they can have them. Daily, every other day, seldom. ect. Many of us use this chart to feed our pigs. Check it out.
