Alfalfa hay cubes...?
My little Lightning LOVES alfalfa hay, I used to give him Kaytee until I realized it was awful. I found a small bag of Oxbow on amazon that was reasonably priced but I was wondering if these would be ok for him as a treat too
Amazon.com: F.M. Brown's Falfa Cravins Treats, 16-Ounce, Alfalfa Cubes Treat: Pet Supplies
Thanks for the help!!

Re: Alfalfa hay cubes...?
Hay cubes could be a treat but not a stable. Piggies need the loose hay for the ginding down of their molars and the aide in digestion. How old is Lightning? If he is under 6 months of age the alfalfa hay is ok. If he is older than 6 months he would need timothy or another grass hay.

I'm just going to quickly add that alfalfa is not a substitute for long strand grass hay, it's a supplement. No matter the age of the pig, you need to feed grass hay as well.
Most pigs don't even know what to do with hay cubes, I personally wouldn't get them. I had to give my bag away to my neighbor rabbit.

If you're giving cubes for treats, see if you can find the ones that are just compressed hay, and not bound together with molasses. I know they make them for horses, but whether you can find a small enough package for a guinea pig is another question.

He has unlimited timothy hay, I was just looking for alfalfa as a treat. He's only 5 months old so it shouldn't be an issue calcium wise.
@bpatters - I didn't realize these had molasses, thanks for the info!! I'll see if I can find the one for horses...
