Accidentally bought rabbit food
Today I accidentally bought Kaytee Supreme Fortified Daily Blend Rabbit food instead of their guinea pig food. They are in the same bags so its hard to tell. I cant take it back because I poured it all into a paper bag with the guinea pig food, before I noticed it wasnt guinea food. I havent fed it to them yet, but I was just wondering if it would be alright to feed to them. I know thats probably a stupid question, but I don't want to have wasted my money! Thank you!

Re: Accidentally bought rabbit food
Kaytee is not the best food, whether for a guinea pig or rabbit or anything else; however, there's nothing in the ingredients list that's going to harm your guinea pigs. You will, however, need to be absolutely certain that they are getting a good amount of Vitamin C from another source.
When this bag runs out, please consider getting them a higher quality guinea pig food.

You might also consider donating it to your local animal shelter.

Thanks for responding! I know, I wish my local petstore had higher quality food but Kaytee is the best I could find. Anyways, just to be safe I decided to buy more guinea pig food and donate the rabbit food to a shelter. I'll look for some better guinea pig food!

Re: Accidentally bought rabbit food
Also, most big-name pet stores (Petsmart, Petco, Pet Supplies Plus etc.) carry Oxbow Essentials Cavy Cuisine pellets. Oxbow is a pretty reputable brand, and it's one of the few pellets you can find in stores that's made with timothy instead of alfalfa hay, which is better for adult pigs.

Re: Accidentally bought rabbit food
Thanks @Mastershroom , I've actually looked many times at my local petco for oxbow, but they don't seem to have any
The best I can find is Kaytee, and even that isnt very great. I'm going to look into buying my hay and food online once the ones I have run out. Thanks for your help everyone!
