Got my Sweet Meadow Timothy Pellets

A week or so ago, someone mentioned that Sweet Meadow's products are very affordable. I used to buy Oxbow Pellets and switched to KM pellets which all but one of my guinea pigs preferred. My last 25 lb order went up to $39.16, which included shipping. Just for the heck of it, I decided to compare with Sweet Meadow which would ship a little closer since I'm in the Chicago area. 50 lbs of the Sweet Meadow timothy pellets, with FedEx shipping came to $51.02 which is a lot cheaper.

I ordered this weekend and immediately got a message saying that if the shipping turns out to be more, I'll be notified and can opt to cancel. I was bummed and figured it would happen... but it didn't. The pellets arrived today and they smell incredible!!! ALL 7 of my guinea pigs are chowing down on them. I'm going to repackage all of it into large zip lock bags and store the extras in my lower level which is always cool. I loved KM pellets but I have to say, the lower cost of these has me sold.

Wow, that's great news that you can get Sweet Meadow for a good deal and that your piggies love them! I wish I could try some of the pellets that people in the states can get. I know you can order KMs in Canada, but with the shipping it's cheaper for me to stick with Oxbow. I can order Oxbow products through my vet for a great price so that's what I've been using for years.

I was just shocked at how reasonable the price was. It's a lot of pellets so I'm going to donate some to my local animal control so their guinea pigs can enjoy some good stuff, too.

I've just recently seen an ingredient list for Sweet Meadow Farm pellets, and they use the same calcium compound as Oxbow. So be on the lookout to make sure they don't cause sludge in the urine.

I have one guinea pigs that tends to have sludge. I also switched to orchard grass from timothy, cut out romaine and feed lower calcium veggies. I purposely switched from Oxbow to KM for that reason and I didn't noticed any improvement with KM pellets so I don't think the pellets are what causes it with her. My guess is that it's more genetic in her case since she's the only one that ever had a problem when I used both different pellets. I don't overfeed pellets, either, so I think that overfeeding puts them at a bigger risk, too.

I checked out how much it would be to ship to me and for a 50lb bag was going to be $175. I wish they would sell really good stuff in Canada without having to spend an insane amount of money on shipping. I love my piggies and all but $175 is alot of money for pellets.

I've been buying Oxbow Orchard Grass in their 50 lb boxes. The Pet Supplies Plus Store near me special orders it for me and has it shipped there so I don't have to pay the high cost of shipping to my home. It costs me about $61 which includes tax and whatever shipping cost is included, if any. Last year was a bad year for hay with the dry conditions. Anytime you get a bad catch of hay, you should contact the company and they'll probably send you more to replace the amount that was brown.

They don't stock 50 lbs in the store. They special order it for me. Their Oxbow deliveries come in on Tuesdays so when I order, they get it in the following Tuesday. It's always fresh and green. Not all the stores special order but I know of two in the Chicagoland area that does.

Yeah I called the pet store that I usually get my stuff from they said they would
do it. I am getting sweet meadow pellets, would like to get the hay also but I dont
think I would have room for such a large box.
