Can you give guiniea pigs lettuce from a salad from McDonalds

thanks to heath class i know mcdonleds sprinkles suger on there salads.. dont know if that one might have it on it or not cuz of the way she oderd tho

My pigs enjoy cherry tomatoes. They are not very high in sugar and the Calcium:Phosphorus ratio is good. They don't have any Oxalic acid to speak of and have a decent amount of Vitamins C and A. I usually give 2 per pig every couple of days, sliced up. I think cherry and grape tomatoes are the same thing. I get a little box of them at the grocery store and it'll last a week or two without them showing any signs of going bad. It makes for a nice addition to the red/green leaf lettuce and the bell peppers I give them.

why exactly is iceberg lettus bad for guinea pigs? is there something in it or not enough vitamins or what.

It's mostly water and has no nutritional value. It can also cause severe diarrhea in pigs.

There's no nutrition in iceberg lettuce -- it's just crunchy water. You need to feed another variety so that they get the vitamins and minerals they need. Red and green leaf lettuces are good choices. Romaine works for some pigs, but others will have problems with excess calcium in the urine if they're fed romaine. There are other varieties they can eat, but they tend to be more expensive at the grocery store, so most people stick with those three.

Would it be good to give GPs iceberg lettuce on a road trip in addition to red or green leaf lettuce to be sure they're getting enough water (my piggies aren't that fond of cucumber). Just curious...

No, I wouldn't give them iceberg. When I travel with mine, I take lettuce in a plastic bag that has extra water in it, and I also stop and offer them water bottles every couple of hours.

actually it is very watery and can make there stomach hurt and give them gas and everything else so iceberg isnt good in any way!

it will make there tummys hurt because its very watery and can cause buildup and gas!
