    Question Neighboring Chemicals

I know fresh grass is a great thing to give to your piggies (occasionally). My question on this however, is that I have close neighbors who chemically treat their lawn on a regular scheduled basis. So, what are my chances of the rain water washing said chemicals into my own yard, causing my grass to be overloaded with poisonous fertilizer? I would love to share grass to my little ones but fear that my neighbors' lawn has tainted it.

Seems far fetched- But, I do worry and wonder about that. I hope someone can help me with this little dilemma.

I could also grow my own in little pots too... If that's the case, what seeds of grass is best for my boys?

....And I also worry that, when it comes time to do outside play this summer, (for the first time) that my grass will most likely be non-edible and a danger to my pigs.

Suggestions on alternatives are greatly appreciated if poisons in my own yard ring true!

If possible, find out what they are spraying and google to see how long it's in the soil or on the grass.

Hopefully they don't spray on a windy day. If they use a drop fertilizer/weed killer there's less of a chance there is drift into your yard.

Is there a spot away from the neighbor's place?

If you want to grow your own grass, you can get wheat grass seeds. We grow this for our cats in the winter. You can buy the seeds at a food coop or some grocery stores. It is the same stuff that they make the health food drink out of.

I can never put my pigs on our grass (we do have to treat for fleas and ants). Sigh, wish I could take them out. I am thinking of making a run with a bottom just to get them out for fresh air. I think Foggy has the right idea.

...And my hubby just did it to our lawn a few days ago... So... Yeah. My grass is tainted. Looks like I'm going to have to grow my own. Which is juuuust fine. At least I know it'll be safe.

Well, I was going to do this, but, we've been having tick issues. Which is weird. We live in town. (doesn't stop them I suppose.) So, my hubby had to spray our lawn. Looks like growing my own is the only option.

I won't mind it. Lol! I love growing plants.
