My husband was out cutting wood and found a lovely clump of the long grass blades the guinea pigs love. He brought in a huge bunch and wanted to give them a giant handful and I said just give them half of that. Can you overdo with forages? Will the guinea pigs stop eating when they are full? I am so thrilled he likes the girls so much, but I don't want them to get sick ! P.S. These are foot long blades of green grass. It is comical to see the girls take one and munch, munch, munch until it is gone ! |

Are you sure it is untreated grass? You can feed too much if they are not used to it - it can upset their tummies. Just slowly introduce it like any other veggie. |

Oh yes, we are extremely rural and it's our own property. They have been eating the grass for weeks, just limited quantities. I guess if people put their pigs out on the lawn they must eat all they want. I know members here often give their piggies time outside. |

If the grass is untreated, let them eat as much as they can eat. Grass based hay should also be offered 24/7 along with grasses. They will stop eating when they are ready to. This is a concern of most people, but just remember 24/7 means 24/7 all the time. The pigs will eat when they want, and stop when they want. |
