Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 As you all know, Christmas is coming. I am very exited, and I don't want my little baby to be left out on the fun! I have got Roxy, my guinea pig, come christmas presents and one of the lettuces which is growing straight up in my veggie garden wil make a perfect christmas tree! I am getting her some christmas fleece and a couple of christmas decorations, but I also need to think of Christmas treats. What can I put in Roxy's Stocking? What about some edible guinea pig biscutes hanging from cat-grass form the cage top? I found a thread about guinea pig biscutes on Guinea Pig Cages: http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...ig-treats.html It seems ok. I also want some special meals for during christmas day, like a fruit platter and other special things. Not just lettuce. I was also thinking off a strip of carrot twisted around a strip of lettuce would make a good candy cane, wait, a veggie cane ! Any other christmas meals for my guinea pig? |

A big plate of a variety of veggies would do better than biscuits and a fruit platter. Fruits have to be fed sparingly and not often, even on holidays. And just so you know, this is guineapigcages. |

Those healthy bites aren't good for guinea pigs. Please don't feed them. Not all of Oxbow's product line is good for pigs. |

I don't think she was saying you spelled it wrong. You were referencing treats you found on here, as if guineapigcages was a DIFFERENT site. |

Right, which is why I thought I should clarify what it sounded like she probably meant. |

Your candy cane idea made from carrot and lettuce is a great one. I think you could also make wreaths the same way. Celery, pepper, or zucchini strips would work too. Or perhaps you could cut veggies up into Christmas-themed shapes. For example, you could cut three circles of zucchini to make the balls of a snowman and then use tiny bits of other veggies for eyes, a mouth, arms, a scarf, etc. Good veggies to feed very often include lettuce, cilantro, bell pepper, and zucchini, so try to incorporate mostly these into your designs. It's best to avoid any sort of pet store treat and fruits (except in very small amounts). Even though it's a holiday, your pig's health should always come first. |
