Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 When I give my piggie a few pieces of apple (rarely), unless he gobbles them down right away, they start to turn brown. Should I let him eat them anyway or are they bad for him and I should just toss them? Thanks! |

An apple turning brown happens naturally when oxygen comes in contact with the inside. It doesn't take long to happen and it doesn't mean the apple is BAD for him to eat. I would say it's okay. Just don't leave it in there too long. |

Yeah, I remembered from school that it was oxidation, I just wondered if it was OK for piggies to eat the apple after it happened. |

I wouldn't leave it in the cage for more than an hour after it turns brown. Maybe save the apple for a separate treat apart from veggie time that way he may eat it quicker. |
