My pigs are 4 and 2 months old and I am getting ready to order hay and pellets from Sweet Meadow. From what I understand, they can eat alfalfa until they are 6 months old on a daily basis(is that correct?). How much hay and pellets should I order for 2 pigs without getting too much? I know its not exact because it depends on the pigs, just looking for an average. Thanks |

You can feed alfalfa hay OR alfalfa based pellets. If you decide to feed alfalfa hay then the pigs still need a grass hay. You can mix in some timothy with the alfalfa and feed that. I don't think you can ever order too much hay or pellets, just as long as you store everything properly . |

Are you asking how much to last you until they're 6 months old and no longer need it? Pellets can last a good while so I wouldn't order more than a 10lb bag for 2 pigs for two months. Or you could buy a larger bulk package of timothy pellets (you can freeze pellets to keep them fresh) and a few bags of alfalfa hay to mix in. That is probably easier to control as a bag will probably last about a week. As PiggiePaws said, the alfalfa hay is to be fed in addition to grass hay, not instead of. |

Thank you--I guess I keep them on timothy pellets and give them alfalfa hay with their other hay mix. |
