Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Wanted to pass on to all my members that I found bulk cavy cuisine at a reasonable price. Currently, I buy my cuisine at petsmart who only carry the 5 lbs bags for around 13.40 a bag. I found that "Strictly Pet Supplies" online...sells 5lbs bags for 7.31 a bag and 10lb bags for 13.21 a bag. It currently runs me 53 dollars a month for a 5lb bag a week, to feed my 5 boys. I priced out that 2 ,10 lb bags including shipping, will run me 41 dollars and change. It 's still a savings for me plus...I won't have to make weekly runs to the store and best of all, i won't be supporting petsmart who we all know sells small animals and reptiles obtained from breeders. Sadly they don't carry larger bags...I'm looking for 25 to 50lbs for a reasonable price. Dr.s foster and smith carries the 50lb gags for 69.00 dollars not including shipping. Petfood direct sells the 50lb bags for around 66 dollars and change not including shipping. If anyone knows of better pricing, please give me a hoot thank you |

Have you ever considered buying in bulk from Kleenmama's? |

In any case, if you're on the east coast, Sweet Meadow might have lower shipping for you and it's definitely comparable to Oxbow. |

Is there another store near you that carries Oxbow? Sometimes they will special order the 50 lb bags for you. Otherwise you may want to look into kleenmama as suggested. Oxbow does supposedly still sell direct but phone orders only. |

You can often find online coupon codes for both places as well. |

last year i was ordering her hay but after 2 bales, i had to call it quits with kleenmamas because shipping fee's were a killer....i miss her hay. I now buy hay for 7 dollars a bale at my local feed store. |

No, there's no other store near me that sells the oxbow. I did go into Petsmart and I spoke to their manager to see if they could special order the 50lb bags. I was told they don't do special ordering...ugh. |

Well, each piggy gets 1/8 of a scoop measuring 1/4 scoop total for 2 pigs, 1/2 scoop total for for pigs plus an additional 1/8 scoop for my loner piggy Pigster. I usually get just over a week out of a 5lb bag to feed my boys. I've learned that my husband was filling their food bowls at night in addition which helps explain why I was running out so fast and why the boys were looking plump. He thought their bowls had to be kept full like the dog's. I'm curious though about the sweat meadow...I'm looking into it. |

Hi I live in Buffalo NY and I just ordered 50lb. timothy pellet, 10 lb blend pellets for under 6 month old piggies and 36 pound bale of hay from Sweet Meadow and it cost me $96.00 with the shipping. The shipping was more than the food, but after I figured it all out, I was saving a ton of money. My piggies all love the hay and the pellets. I too was getting a bale of timothy hay for $3.00, but I just wasnt happy with it. You might want to give Sweet Meadow a try. It was well worth it for me. |

Is that really a good deal? Our Pet Supplies Plus has 10lb bags of Oxbow for about 16 bucks and some change. Without shipping. I buy in bulk for my two pigs, since I can't go to the pet store often (I take advantage of the moment). |

That's about a dollar a pound for feed. Comparable to Kleenmama for my region. If you're close to those places, it is probably cheaper for you. Shipping seems to be the same for me. |

If I were to buy just the 10 lb. bag it is almost $20 for the Oxbow pellets. For 5- 10 lb bags it would cost me almost $100 alone. The hay is awesome and I am not supporting a pet store any longer. With 11 piggies, I was spending my money like water at the store. Made the best choice I believe. |

By '5- 10', I thought you meant range. You know, like 5 to 10. I get confused easily. I need to look into online shopping. |

Just wanted to mention that I recieved my shipment today of sweet meadow timothy hay pellets and 5 bags of hay. I did a quick ingredient check and found that their ingredients are nearly identical to that of Oxbow's for those who might be wondering. I felt quite at ease when I went through it and I don't think I even need to gradually give it to them because the ingredients are pretty much the same. What a savings too. As soon as I get new batteries in my camera, I'll take a picture of the ingredient list and post it for those who want to view it. Just a recap, 10lb bag of pellets and 5 bags of hay...with shipping was 33 dollars and 17 cents. |

You don't need to post a photo of the ingredients, I have the ingredients list in my database if anyone wants it. I have ingredients lists for many brands of pellets. Mostly if people just ask about a brand, I can look quickly and see what's in them. Although every once in a while, someone will post an ingredients list for a brand I don't have or have not heard of before. |
