You don't necessarily need timothy hay. Any kind of horse quality grass hay is fine. Timothy hay is a type of grass hay, but there are many others. If you let us know what kind of hay you can find, we can let you know if it is a grass hay. Alfalfa hay is not a grass hay and should be fed as a treat or not at all. |

I heared that Timothy-grass can be confused with Meadow Foxtail (Alopecurus pratensis) and Purple-stem Cat's-tail (Phleum phleoides)( from wiki ) . So is it okay to feed them Meadow Foxtail and Purple-stem Cat's-tail hay . Does it cause any probs . Is it good enough compared to timothy |

If you want to know what different grass hays look like, try using a search engine. You can do an image search on many of them. Go to google and type in "grass hay" with the quotation marks around it. There are many types of grass hay, timothy, bermuda, bluegrass, orchard, sweet meadow, etc. I don't see those particular weeds on the poisonous plants list but that doesn't mean they are actually safe. The list only contains the ones I know aren't safe. They aren't on the safe forages list either. |
