It is if it's fresh and they haven't had any fresh water for days! |

Or it's a hot day and they're just thirsty? |

Yes, esp. since you don't give them daily veggies. They need to get their water somewhere. |

Then you need to make sure they don't get heat stroke. |

There are actually a number of reasons water intake can increase. Several of those are health reasons - diabetes, kidney issues, etc. Is it a sudden increase because this is the first time they've had fresh water in weeks or months or is it a very common thing for them to be drinking lots and lots of water? If it's the former you need to make sure they have fresh water available at all times instead of just whenver you get around to it. If it's the latter I suggest getting them to a vet for a general health screen. How warm is it where they are? Some animals tend to drink more in the summer for a number of reasons. The bottom line is you kind of have to know your pet to know what's normal and whether or not she's drinking a lot more water than she regularly does. I find it hard to believe you actually pay enough attention to them to notice any kind of regular patterns, so it might be best if you just take them in for a checkup to be safe. |
