I am concerned about my pellets.

When I first got my piggie, I was very uninformed (which I realize is completely my own fault). Since I have come to this web site, I give her unlimited hay, got her a C&C cage, and, just recently, got her a friend. I was still feeding her the pet store pellets, but then I read that they are like junk food. I went on the Oxbow site and ordered Organic Guinea Pig food. I figured organic had to be better (I always try to buy organic veggies for the piggies as well). I ordered two 5-pound bags for my older girl and the new baby I adopted. Unfortunately, shortly there after I found the whole discussion about how the organic food may not be that good and definitely not as good as Cavy Cuisine. I am so upset. I really want to do the best for them. I am pretty short on money, and I am taking my older girl to the vet for a check-up, which is very expensive in NYC.

However, if the organic is really no good for them I want to know. I don't want to give them poor nutrition. So, I guess my question is, should I keep feeding it to them until I run out? I feel really stupid. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: I am concerned about my pellets.

I think you could finish off the food and then change it. It's much better then the pet store food hands down. It sounds like you give them veggies that they need daily so I wouldn't worry to much. Just finish this off and get some new stuff.

Re: I am concerned about my pellets.

I feed the Organic. It is definetely better (by far) than what the pigs were getting before. The Cavy Cuisine is better, but the Organic is definetely much much better than the other pellets.
The only problem is that there may be a few questionable ingredients, but nothing that will cause serious harm to your animal.

Re: I am concerned about my pellets.

In my opinion, the organic isn't as good as the Performance or the Cuisine. Once you finish your current bag, you may want to switch to one of the regular Oxbow formulas.
