Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I have a GP book that says I need to peel bell peppers because the skin is tough. However, I know that for a lot of veggies/fruits a majority of the nutrition is in the peel. Plus, my piggies have no trouble with it. I cut them into strips about 1/2 inch or so wide. I'd like to start feeding them peppers more often since I discovered how much C is in there (plus its farmers market time.) Should I be peeling them? Oh, and what about the stings on green beans.... makes me nervous. Thanks. |

Well you don't need to peel the green peppers and I don't know about stings on green beans. |

They can have the peel of bell peppers (capsicum). I'm not exactly sure what you mean by strings on the green beans. |

Also, green peppers are a very good veggie to feed daily, along with lettuce and cilantro. Peppers have a very good C content. Actually, red peppers are higher in C than green peppers, but because of the high sugar content, they can't be fed every day. Check out the veggie/fruit chart in the diet and nutrition section to see what can be fed and how often: http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...arts-info.html |

Thanks for the reassurance. I saw the nutrition chart already which is awesome. My piggies are going to be so much healthier after discovering this site. |

Ly, If you "snap" the tips off of green beans, down the "seams" of the bean, there is oftentimes a string in that seam that you can pull off that will be attached to the snapped off tips. For what it's worth, I don't take off the strings and both piggers like green beans just fine. |
