Re: My piggie won't eat pellets

I really wouldn't worry about her pellet intake. It sounds as if she is being stubborn. I would however, give her a bit of extra veggies during veggie time or at other times during the day.

There's no use to keep changing pellet brands. Maybe Rumpy will encourage her to eat pellets at a later date.

Have you tried just giving her timothy hay to eat with no alfalfa?

Re: My piggie won't eat pellets

Ok, thanks! You make me feel better. She spilled her pellets all over today, so at least she's paying attention to them now. Maybe she'll actually try them.

I haven't given just timothy hay, because she's only 1.5 months old. Since she has timothy pellets, I thought she still needed the alfalfa hay. Is that not right?

Re: My piggie won't eat pellets

I've had my pigs for 2 weeks and they're still fussy about veggies. I have one that's a little less fussy and one that's super fussy! They eat a lot of lettuce, grass, and of course their hay. Both timothy and alfalfa since my girls are young. They've both just started to eat cucumber and I think one ate a grape. One loves carrots while the other only tried it once. Oh, the somewhat less picky one will also eat celery. They turn their nose up at bell peppers of all colors, don't want either yellow squash or zucchini. I worry a little that they won't get the nutrients they need, but I'm seeing progress since both eat cukes now. I guess it just takes some patience

Re: My piggie won't eat pellets

Rumpy's eating her pellets!!!!! YAY!!! She's been begging all day for food. I fed her her salad this morning, and she has hay, but she's still been begging. I guess she finally realized that I'm not giving her another salad, so she started eating her pellets! Woo Hoo!!! I'm so relieved.
