    drinking water?

i just got a new piggie about 6 hours ago...and (i think it's a she) hasn't drank any water on her own out of the bottle...i know she's eatten some lettice...and i kinda forced her to drink some water from the bottle...and she's eatting properly...so why won't she drink water on her own from the bottle?

p.s. if she is pregnant do i still continue to pick her up and play with her later on when her belly gets bigger?

Give your pig time to settle in. Once she's settled in then she will start drinking from the water bottle. If you gave her lettuce, she may have gotten the water she needed from it at the time.

How old is she? Where did you get her from? Why would she be pregnant? Are you sure it's a she? Have you sexed her?

One of my piggies didn't drink any water for about 8 hours. Then she attacked the water bottle. If it comes to 12 or so hours, then I'd be a little concerned. Remember, she IS scared and in a new and foreign place.

Lettuce is mostly water, so if she's eating lettuce then she's probably fine, as Ly already stated. If you're really concerned, give the lettuce a rinse beforehand and leave it damp.

I would not worry. If she goes on 12 or more hrs without water, I would worry. Make sure she gets hand fed veggies. What lettuce did you feed? Romaine? Iceburg is not very good for pigs. She may even drink at night because she knows there is nothing going on. But make sure she gets to a vet. To ckeck for pregnancy, disease, and anything else.

I'm not sure how old she is. She is about 5 inches long, and I got her from a pet store (now I know I should adopt instead). I think she's a she, I looked up how to sex them, and if I did it right then she's a she.

Since she's like 5 inches long, how much water should she be drinking? And if she is pregnant what should I be feeding her besides hay, grass (from the lawn outside), and pellets?

I give romain lettice (from cosco) and brocoli and some carrots pieces.

If you got her from the petstore than, most likely, she is pregnant. If you find out she is pregnant than you can feed Alfalfa hay, and pellets. You shouldn't feed her broccoli very often because it can cause gas, read Ly's chart (http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...arts-info.html) and you can find out which veggies and fruits are good, and how often you can feed them.
