Piggie doesn't like fresh fruits and veggies...

So far I've tried:
bell pepper
romaine lettuce
carrots
cucumber
strawberries
oranges
blueberries
kale

The ONLY thing he'll eat is the kale and he'll take a bite or two of romaine (probably to see if it's kale ).

I have snap peas, turnips, spring lettuce, and broccoli left to try but I'm guessing my piggie is too picky.

My advice would be to slow down and work with only a couple veggies to start off with. Lettuce and bell peppers. Sometimes it takes days or weeks to get pigs to eat veggies, so have some patience. Offer a small amount of both lettuce and bell pepper daily until he's eating it well then about twice per week, add in one new veggie.

Sometimes it's like they are overwhelmed with too many things to try, especially if they've never had veggies before. Kale has a high calcium content but it's also got a good amount of Vitamin C in it. You can continue to feed it but only a couple times per week.

I agree. Start slowly. Your pig may be overwhelmed with choices.

Thank you - I will keep trying just the peppers and lettuce this week.

I also wanted to mention that you may want to supplement with some vitamin C tablets (about 25mg per day) or some liquid C that you can get at health food stores. Do this until your pig is eating veggies really well. Just don't put drops in his water as it degrades too fast and distorts the taste of the water.

Re: Piggie doesn't like fresh fruits and veggies...

Thanks - I have liquid Vit C that I was putting on his kale, which he was eating well. But now that I've learned not to give Kale everyday, I'm hoping he'll get it either on his lettuce or I'll have to get some tablets.

Still no luck finding a piggie to adopt to befriend our new little guy

Hand feed him things. I have tried everything on the list and he only liked blueberries. Now he eats peppers, blueberries, stawberries, and carrots. Carrots he just started today! You have to put it right by their mouth. It worked for me, I hope it works for you!

Thank you - that's totally what I did and so far he's eaten everything except the carrots! But he will NOT eat them on his own - very strange!

You may want to try giving your cavy a little bit of parsley. I hadn't given mine any until just last week and it's now her favorite food ever!
