How big package of pellets do you order?

I am trying to order pallet from online first time for my four pigs. I noticed that bigger bags will save money. But I am worried about their freshness too. Does Vitamin C break up when its frozen? I read in a thread that pigs didn't like pallets once frozen. What size would you order? How often would you order?

Firstly, why do you call them "pallets"? They are pellets, not pallets.

Some C will degrade in the freezer but not like it will degrade when you have the bag sitting open somewhere exposed to oxygen in the air constantly or to light. If you have the room in your freezer, just buy the pellets in bulk then freeze most of them. Take a bag out of the freezer a couple days before you need them and let them warm to room temperature. I freeze pellets myself and have never had the pigs refuse them because they had been frozen at some point in time.

I have an additional freezer with a lot of space. These years we eat less and less frozen food. So I will just buy bulk pellets then.

Lol. I was also wondering why you kept on saying pallet. Everyone makes mistakes! When I first heard the word "cavy", I mispronounced it, and my friend started to look at me like I was nuts. Then she corrected me and I was all better.

I went to a local feed store to buy a bale of orchard grass hay. I recently bought a alfalfa hay but Skipper Doo is too old for that. And wild grass in the near creek has been already all dried up dead under Californian sunshine.

To my surprise, the local feed store had Oxbow pellet. So I didn't have to order from online after all. Well, they had Carefresh in super cheap price of $16/60L. So I couldn't refuse it too.

I found why my pigs didn't like pellets at last. Actually, they like pellet. They just don't like freshless junk from KayTee. Lucky, my earthworms doesn't seem to mind the junk, so I have a good use for that.

Sammy: It would be nice if it was a mistake. Sadly, it was my limit in the field of language art. Spellings usually doesn't have meaning to me. I am doomed when computer doesn't underline a word as incorrect spelling (like pallet). *sigh*

Justin, I thought my pigs hated pellets too, when I was feeding them KayTee. Once I gave them Oxbow, they loved pellets! I'm glad you and I both figured this out.

I bought 50 pounds of Oxbow pellets a couple of months back and it was around $54, shipping included. I froze a lot of it. It has lasted so long. I've finally got to the frozen pellets and they eat it like crazy too.
