Question Which hay is bad/good?

We all know that timothy is what our pigs need everyday, but what about those other types that are out there now?
  • Timothy
  • Alfalfa
  • Brome
  • Bermuda
  • Orchard
Are any of them bad? I know alfalfa is only to be fed to pregnant and baby pigs. Are most of them practicaly the same just given a fancy name?

Re: Which hay is bad/good?

No, brome is more stiff and some pigs don't like bermuda. But timothy or orchard/bluegrass are good hays to feed daily.

All of those are fine to feed. None are bad, but, your pigs may prefer one over another. I am pretty sure Alfalfa can be fed to adult pigs, but only supplementally once or less per week. But all of the others are perfectly finr to feed. You can even mix types of hay. (A blend of your pig's favorites)

Re: Which hay is bad/good?

So the hay actually does have distinctive tastes? Well then I guess I would have to try some of those. Thanks.
