Cool I finially get it!

I always wondered why you shouldn't be giving piggies free feeding on pellets. Now that Cookie is an adult, I see that she eats pellets all day and sometimes doesn't finish her veggies at night. She used to scarf them down, but now she seems to eat much slower. I watched her very carefully these past two days. In the morning she eats a bit faster, almost like she used to, but in the evening she's much, much slower. She's been eating pellets all day!

Just proves you guys know what you're talking about. Thank you.

Does your guinea pig eat hay?

Any change in behavior could be a cause for concern. Pellets are easier to eat if they are developing teeth problems. Her eating slower may be a symptom of that.

Regardless your guinea pig should be eating primarily hay rather than pellets.

Re: I finially get it!

She has plenty of hay and munches that all day too. Her eating habits or regular habits have not changed. She eats hay and pellets all day and that is why she's not rushing to eat her evening meal.

I cut her pellets down and we'll see what happens tomorrow.
